I was at the range with my buddy yesterday. He was shooting his Arsenal SGL21 using Red Army Standard ammo. He felt a round discharge but it was weaker feeling than others. The projectile left the barrel, but the case was stuck in the chamber. He text me this picture last night when he was finally able to get the round dislodged. Looks like a bulge and crack in the center. In all my years of shooting I've never seen this happen. We initially thought it was a squib load.

Looks like it fired before it was completely in battery.

Looks like a 223 fired in a 7.62x39 chamber.

I'm not sure how you get such a huge case bulge if the barrel supports the casing. It's weird as hell.

I just text him to confirm that he didn't accidentally shoot a .223 round. He claims he double checked the case stamp. Will request pics of the stamp to see if he coughs it up. I'm starting to think that this is the only theory that makes sense.

I think you guys may have nailed it on the head. Found this in another ARFCOM foorum:

Talk about fire formed cases (almost).

Ouch...

That is especially strange. It should not have been hard to "dislodge" a 556 round from a 762 barrel. Point downward and shake should have done it>
