I didn't like the crown on the muzzle of one of my AK's, so I made a crowning tool.  I wouldn't have been able to do it if I didn't have a 5/32 carbide drill bit to drill a hole for the pilot.  It's probably not what you'd use on a match barrel, but its just fine for an AK or something like that.   It worked great also.  Oh, a 100 degree countersink was the donor, I turned a 5/32 pin for the pilot and made the brass bushing a snug fit for the bore.  the pilot goes 1/2 inch into the bushing to keep it stable.

looks good....hand turning or using a drill?

I lightly kissed it with a drill. It was a very smooth cut with no chatter marks.  My only other option was pulling the barrel and pressing off the front sight, rear sight, gas block and putting it in the lathe.  Doable, but not what I wanted to do this morning.

I hear ya......I had an easy morning...went to the shop and finished my DI 10mm upper....all I had to do was cerokote it and mount the forearm.........pressing apart an AK just to clean up the crown does seem like a little too much work.

How much is the retail on them?  Obviously you aren't retailing them,  so it should be ok to ask.

As they are pretty much custom builds at this point.....price varies depending on configuration..(barrel length forearm options and such)....I'm building just uppers for now.....and am cooperating with QuarterCircle10..........I'm shipping a DI 45 upper to them next week, and should be their endorsed builder soon after. Prices run on the complete uppers from around $800 up to $1000 depending on options. I'm gonna have a wide selection of pistol cal AR's at the HTF shoot at Half Fawn Ranch in October.......but if any of ya'll are planning a function centered on firearms and shooting with around 15 people in attendance.....I'll be happy to drop by and let ya'll check 'em out  and test fire if a suitable place is available.

Sorry about that, it didn't cross my mind.  The countersink doesn't look centered, but its only because the camera lense isn't centered with the bore.  It looks better in person.  I took six pictures with my phone and only two weren't blurry.  What you see around the barrel, on the front sight is a thin washer I made to get the muzzle brake timed to the correct position and some teflon tape I used to help "snug" it up.
