Well look like August wont be bad with my schedule with the Guard and work so I have some options now.
Who all has been? Looks like a great time, I'm more interested in the Sci-Fi and literature than the Cosplay and such, but I suspect that the eye candy will be better around the cosplay and dress up crowd. So, gimme the skinny, what do I need to know, Rob |

We go down to watch the parade. Its a lot of fun... If you plan on watching the parade, get there early or find a place that has reserved seating. I have never been to the actual convention. We too go there just to watch the people, the nuts, weirdos, etc. It is extremely crowded, hot and sweaty. |

Concealed means CONCEALED! A lot of angst on the DragonCon Facebook pages about the changes to Georgia's carry laws. Be prepared for extreme crowding, hot and sweaty people. You can't get in to the hotels without a room key or convention badge, especially in the evenings. Most of the crowd-watching has moved from the Hyatt to the Marriott. If you don't already have a hotel room, good luck. They generally sold out within minutes of going on sale last October, I barely got mine. If you have to commute in, remember that the Con goes on much later than MARTA does, I'm usually up until 3-4am during the convention. Baen is having a book release party Thursday evening at the Westin, I think it's at 7:30pm, since you mentioned science fiction and literature. In addition to the official signings times/locations, check with Glennis at The Missing Volume, she usually has book signings at her booth that she arranges directly with the authors (and if you read John Ringo's Aldenata books, yes, she's portrayed as Major Glennis LeBlanc and IS extremely well-stacked). |

Concealed means CONCEALED! . . Yep, and if the conceal carrier would keep his pie hole shut, no one will know. For the past two years that I've gone to watch the crowd and the weirdos, I had a Colt Lightweight Commander in an IWB, a spare mag, a Smith 642 J frame in the pocket plus the spare Bianchi speed strip, a Benchmade folder. Everyone minded their own business and we all had a good time. |

I was assuming I could drive down from Braselton but I've heard that is a bad idea, is there parking available? |

Quoted: Pheh! Nothing will ever beat the year the hookers invaded MOC and the fey chicks roamed the halls all night wearing police tape. The video I shot of that MOC was all but subpoenaed. F Roland...but he threw a good show. No, nothing will beat the time furries invaded the Anime convention. That shit was funny. Usually the furry con is the same time as the Young Republicans meeting downtown, that's funny to sit and watch.

My wife took me down there for my 30th bday. We walked in the parade and I made a new friend.

Here is a wife pic to trade (it's about time I followed the rules) BTW, she was Black Widow at dragoncon, but she has all her pics on her phone. http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x151/mcrow32000/weddingphotos055.jpg |

David Weber has just announced he will be there as well, he'll be at the Baen Book Launch Party Thursday evening, then at the convention Friday and Saturday. |
