| I might be beating the dead horse when I ask this question but any who. Has anyone used http://deanphillipslaw.com/ for their trust or have they made their own using quickens will maker. I was going to go though FFLguard.com from the place I get my stuff from but for $349 and its a do it your self trust with a guide from a website, I think I could do better. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quicken. No problem. Horse beaten multi ple times.... I hear a lot of people use quicken to make theirs...also I actually found a full trust example...wonder if its legal or for that matter correct to use? Yes, it is legal. It becomes legal when you execute the trust via signature and notarization. I cannot comprehend why trusts have this rampant stigma that make them seem difficult to create without an expensive lawyer. The Quicken application asks you who the trustees and beneficiaries will be. It also asks for successors or sub-trusts for children. It is an application designed for the average person to draft a LEGAL document. Also, realize that as a GA resident, you should do you due diligence for the city/county regulations and/or filing requirements. Do not make any assumptions. If you wish to pay a lawyer to take care of all the particulars, then do so. However, it is not as complicated as many make it seem. Of course, it can be complicated if you plan to place ALL of your firearms in the item inventory, for which an attorney may be appropriate. However, if this trust is just for NFA items, it is a very simple process that may be completed by anyone.

Quoted: "Also, realize that as a GA resident, you should do you due diligence for the city/county regulations and/or filing requirements.." Could you go into more depth about this? That statement means to research the city or county ordinances along with the OCGA to ensure that filing is not required. To my knowledge, state filing is NOT required. But if I were you, I wouldn't rely upon what is said by someone on the internet. Do your own research.

| The trust example on the ODT is a direct copy of a trust created by a former HTF member and lawyer who no longer resides in Georgia. Years ago before NFA trusts became so common place he was pretty much the only lawyer in GA who created NFA trusts. With the increased popularity of NFA GA lawyers have capatilized on the fear/lack of knowledge and are making damn good money creating trusts. |

Actually, he's back in Georgia, but not working as a lawyer, I know where he works but haven't stopped in to see him yet, and won't ask into his business unless he volunteers the information. |

OK, didn't know he was working as a lawyer again, his other job is right next to my main client location, I just haven't made time to visit him there yet. ETA: I have ways to contact him directly myself, thanks :-) |
