| My mom gave me a piece of jewelry that i have no use for and want to use to get a couple of new guns. I have used ebay in the past but had a bad experience and would rather not go that route. Its been listed on craigslist but potential buyers have been few and far between. I'v never been to a gun show so im not really sure how the trading works at them. I have also considered taking it to a pawn shop and trying to trade for a couple of guns there. What do yall think the best route is? |

Nothin against pawn shops but u will not probably get 50% of value. Take it to a Jared jewelry and get a written appraisal!! Will b ur best tool in this deal. Find a value and go from their.
Now that pawn star wannabe in Dublin, Ga at shamrock pawn might do ya better then any other cause he a member here....

| Its not an heirloom piece, my dad gave it to my mom when they were together but now since they are divorced she doesn't want it. I had it appraised last may and it was valued at over $5,000. I doubt ill be able to get the appraised value just because not that many people are going to spend 5k on one piece of used jewelry. Honestly I'd just be happy if i could trade it for a Sig, a Cz and some ammo. |

You should get more bang for your buck if you sell it as opposed to trading. Untrue. When trading we always allowed more because we were going to make a profit both ways- when selling the jewelry and when selling the gun. OP- take it to a shop that is a Pawn/ Gun store. Tell them that you want to trade towards firearms. Be advised though that $5k when it was bought is not $5k when you sell it. There is depreciation and when the shop sells it they need to make a profit on it. That's just business. |
