Does anyone know anything about Advanced Bullets Outdoor Range in Temple?  I saw them listed on NSSF's wheretoshoot.com.

Thanks.

Personally you couldn't pay me to give him business or even step on his property.  I guess you can say I hold a grudge.

If your near there you need to look into West Georgia Youth Range. It's in Tallapoosa. You get a key to the range. I need to have a meet and shoot down there for interested people.

I actually live in Powder Springs, but get tired of going to Johns Mountain in Calhoun.  If you have a meet and shoot, please let me know.  Given the name I am going to assume my 9yo daughter would be welcome?

Thanks.

I have the opposite experience and I enjoy shooting there.

It has its moments that's for sure.  The last couple of times it has been pretty smooth and not all that busy.  If you get there early you can beat all the fools who show up to blow off rounds with no care for where they go.

This from me as well.  Drive to Douglasville and shoot at Stoddards or go to Tallapoosa.  There is also a DNR range about an hour from there that I have shot many times. Only had a person there once other than me.

I use Advanced because its close to the house.  It is fine if it not busy.   The range is staggered in an odd way and it can get tight.  I would like another option other than bench shooting there.  Its cheap there also.  Never been to Tallapoosa range.  I may have to check that out.

I believe there is a Governor's Gun Club in Powder Springs or Lithia Springs?  I have never been.  It looks nice from the pictures.

My cousin is a member of Governor's in Powder Springs. I haven't shot there with him yet, but I believe there are several HTF members with good experiences there. I haven't heard anything negative about them.

its hard to beat the range in waco i have been a member for the last four years and shoot IDPA out there sometimes, but the wife working every other weekend and having a 1 year old has cut that time down for now.

it has a few nice pistol pits and a couple have covered areas, a 275 yard rifle range and a very nice trap/skeet setup cant beat it for $100 a year.

I second this. The owners a douche. Last 2 times I was there were bad experiences, so I wont ever go back.

I was down range after the range had been called cold and the owner instructed a young lady he was apparently teaching how to shoot, (obviously distracted that he was actually talking to you young lady) to go ahead and fire the weapon, again while I was on the range after it had been called cold, and he even said "Yeah, range is cold" all I got was, "Oh, sorry" not even a comp on my range time. It wouldnt be a big deal, but I have seen this dude wear people out for much less than this.

Fast forward probably like 4 years I was desperate enough to shoot my D.D. V5  out to 100 yards that I went back, this time I took my son. Not only was the "Range officer" one of those approximately 20 year old kids that knows everything about every gun on the range, but either him or "My marine Sniper buddy" owned it. First he asked what kind of rifle I was shooting when I told him he said, "Oh yeah, I got one of them at home." As me and another shooter were discussing different builds, I mentioned that I had a 10.5" upper that I was building as a pistol, here comes "ole rangie" and butts in "You know you can put that upper on this lower and shoot it." As if I didnt know that already, I answered him with "Yeah, but without a tax stamp I would be facing a pretty hefty fine and jail time." he replied, "Heh, yeah thats only if you get caught." After me and the other shooter gave eachother a look somewhat akin to "Did he just suggest that I break a federal law." I packed up and left and haven't been back. More than anything I didn't appreciate him doing making that statement in front of my 9 yr old son. It's different if its all grown ups and people who actually met more than 30 minutes prior.

In my opinion, theres too much tom foolery and not enough professionalism that happens there. First time I have ever had shots fired on a cold range, and first time I have ever been suggested to break a gun law, by a gun store employee. What scares me about it is how many people DONT know the laws and have the "The guy at the gun store said it so it must be true" attitude. And how many people are breaking the law and risking going to jail because this numbskull gave them bunk info.

I shoot there.  Not warm and fuzzy but perfectly doable range.  Can get crowded and a bit difficult.  I was shooting my Sig 239 next to so,some with a M4geey.  I was only wearing foam ear plugs.  Did not realize that my hearing was severely impaired and did not hear a call for a cold range.  Damn, that thing was loud.  I could not hear properly for three days!

I've shot there a couple times and while it wouldn't be my first choice, it didn't suck.  The benches are crap, and I can't stand the way the lanes are set up.  If you want to sight in at 25 yards, you have to sit at one of the 25 yard benches.  If you want to move out to 100 yards, you have to change over to one of the 100 yard benches.  I really don't understand why they don't have it set up so you can just move your target closer and farther depending on your needs.

One time, there was a young couple there (early 20's), all inked up and with gauges in their ears.  He asked to shoot my AR so I let him.  He tried to pay me for the 5 rounds of bulk Federal he shot, which made me laugh.  All in all, not too terrible of an experience.  When the next closest 100 yard range is over an hour and a half drive away, I'll suck it up when I want to shoot a rifle.  I just don't shoot as often as I used to.
