My buddy wanted to take me on a duck hunting trip. I've never been hunting before, so I've been looking at the GA Wildlife license website. Do I just need to get the hunting license and waterfowl license? Do I have to take a hunter's safety course or anything else?

Sounds *about* right, but I'm not much of a duck hunter.
For migratory bird you'll need a migratory bird permit (free) and for ducks you use to need a federal duck stamp. Things may have changed since I've been many yrs ago, so check this out until someone else comes along that actually duck hunts http://www.georgiawildlife.com/hunting/regulations Hunter safety course requirements should be listed in the regs. Pretty certain there is an exemption once you are a certain age. eta: If you are near Bass Pro, go there. They'll be sure you get what you need. Wal-mart will likely screw it up if you ask what you need. For deer season they told me I didn't need the hunting license in addition to a big game and deer harvest record. I knew better, but went with it anyway. Got it fixed shortly after at Bass Pro as I needed some things there too. |

You will need:
Hunting license Migratory Bird Hunting License Waterfowl Conservation License (Ga) Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp Plus...Residents and non-residents born on or after January 1, 1961 must successfully complete a hunter education course prior to purchasing a season hunting license. I gave up duck hunting due to all the bs regulations and hoops you have to jump through now just to go shoot a few birds.
