I'll be in the stand at 0615.  Supposed to only hit a high of 80 which means I'll try to stay out all day except for a lunch break.  Looking forward to a great season!  Good luck everyone!

Will be set up at 6:15 also. Hoping for a active morning.

Remember your Thermacell's! They will be just as important as your bow.

I hope everyone bow hunts tomorrow. I want the Doves all to myself. :)

This.....

Heading down to Leesburg with a friend tomorrow to shoot birds.

I have killed so many deer in my life I have a hard time getting fired up anymore. I much prefer beef over venison these days so I trophy hunt only. I have not killed a deer in 5 years but I usually see 75-100 deer from the stand each year.

It's also hot as hell and mostly miserable on a deer stand during bow season this far below the gnat line.

Doves can be a real challenge to shoot, and they're easy to clean.  Loads of fun for the whole family.  Wish I had a place to go around here in Savannah like I used to when I was a kid in CA.  Hunting doves at my uncles farm in Indio, CA (just south of Palm Springs) was fun too.

Best of luck, and have fun y'all!

Its too hot to bow hunt, and the ticks and chiggers are still out. I'll gladly wait until 10/19 so its cooler outside and I can just shoot one. I might take the bow in the stand the week before gun season, otherwise I'll stay in my AC.

Just to make everyone feel a little better, I can't do either...  I have two pins in one of my fingers, so I can't shoot a shotgun or draw a bow for three more weeks!  So, whether you are shooting dove or chasing deer - have fun, be safe, and think of me when you pull the trigger.  :-)

Nice cool morning, no bugs came near me, saw several deer. Although I didn't take a shot, it was still a great morning. Some don't know what they are missing.

Won't make the opener today. I hope to get out next weekend maybe.

I'm just not comfortable hunting with a bow I've only had for two days and haven't had a chance to wring out.
Not to mention the draw weight is a little heavier than I've ever shot (70 lbs, my previous compound maxed out at 60) and I'm having a little trouble with my shoulder during draw (old age).
Need to work with it for a week or so before I take aim on an animal.

It's a really nice used bow, Parker Trailblazer XP, but it was set up for someone else. I need to see how well it fits me and where it hits at various ranges . . .
