Going to Six Flags with my family on Sunday.
I know you are not supposed to carry into the park. Question is, can it be done? How do they check? I dont want to be unarmed walking into and out of the park. Anybody with recent experience on there security procedures would be great. Thanks in advance |
| I went about a month ago. They have walk-through detectors and wands. I went through a walk-through (which went off) so I pulled my cellphone out and showed it to the guy. He waved me through. Had I been carrying I would have been good to go but YMMV. There are several signs prior to getting to the gates mentioning weapons are prohibited. I believe by law they have to ask you to leave but I'm sure it would probably provoke more of a response than that. Good way to ruin your family's day. If you don't feel comfortable going without carrying you should probably not go. |

I go a lot. The only method that looks possible to me is to go in with a woman and have her put it in the bottom of her purse. I have never seen them check a purse well.
I have carried in a backpack and they did check it thoroughly. If you wear it in it is most likely that it will be found. They have a fixed metal detector that is usually turned on and if you alert they will use a wand. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. |

"I have carried in a backpack and they did check it thoroughly. " QUTOTE FROM EARLIER POST I was not clear on the line above. I wore in a backpack there was not a gun in the backpack, If there had been a weapon it would have been found. I have been caught with a knife in my pocket as I forgot it was there. They were polite and just told me to take it back outside. |

I sandwiched the knife between my wallet and my cell phones and keys and held the whole stack in my hand as I walked through the detector. They never said a word about it although the knife did set off the detector. It was a small pocket knife though. |
