Since moving to this wonderful free state I've picked up a cpl. Yugo underfolders, and a cpl. M&P's.Did my GWL app.,but won't have it for another week or two...What are the laws as to guns in my car/truck without my GWL?Don't want to get in trouble before I get it!The few people I've asked gave me different answers,or weren't to concerned with the law!Any help would be great.

No need for a GWL......in your car or truck is an extension of your home.......as long as it is in yer vehicle...good to go... only thing you need a GWL for is concealed or open carry ......and not having to stand around for a background check when you buy a gun.................

Handgun can be anywhere in the car,or does it have to be in a console/glovebox?

Double check that...I thought that without a permit it has to be in plain sight, not hidden. If it's in a trunk it has to be unloaded. Also, isn't it supposed to be only to and from work, home or the range ....or is that the old law? Someone will be along shortly to correct me or to tell you to check out Georgiacarry.org

From GeorgiaCarry.org:

O.C.G.A.§ 16-11-126
Having or carrying handguns, long guns, or other weapons; license requirement; exceptions for homes, motor vehicles, and other locations and conditions; penalties for violations

(a) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a weapon or long gun on his or her property or inside his or her home, motor vehicle, or place of business without a valid weapons carry license.

(b) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a long gun without a valid weapons carry license, provided that if the long gun is loaded, it shall only be carried in an open and fully exposed manner.

(c) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry any handgun provided that it is enclosed in a case and unloaded.

Without GWL, anywhere in vehicle, loaded.

(b) and (c) are about it being on your person or carrying outside of a vehicle.

(a) is about your vehicle or private property.

Ct as in Connecticut? Good Lord this must be one hell of a shock....

Are you the one a while back who was asking about living in Georgia?

Welcome... Now do yourself a favor, call up Mark at accurate Ordnance and start your paper work on an SBR and a suppressor.  Then send pics to your friends in CT

Please keep in mind, a LOT of people have had their firearms stolen out of their cars.  Everytime somebody posts that its happened to them I can't help but wonder why they left it in their car in the first place.  Especially if the car is in their driveway.

Form 1 for you to create one, form 4 to buy one.

Do it right the first time! Buy a complete SBR from AO! I would love to have one if those Daniel defense internallyinternally suppressed 300 AAC blackouts!

What part of town did you move to?

We're in Maysville.Small newer subdivision, about a half mile oval in size. There's a cop and a guy who installs security/surveillance systems near the entrance, and behind my place my neighbor lives on about 50 acres. He's not one to screwed with, let's just say there's not much riff raff around here...Now to find some good rifle/pistol ranges!

Lucky you.... Had to google it but looks like you are only 23 miles from AO. That could be expensive!

Welcome to GA! as for AO, Mark needs a sign on his door that says "Abandon all cash, ye who enter here"... Besides it being a 2 hour drive one way for me, I don't go up there anymore becuase every time I walk in I drop $200 EASY....usually A LOT more.
