Hey guys, so I'm currently searching for jobs in elementary education. I will be attending a career fair, where Fulton County school system representatives will be present. I don't know much about that area, but I would like to keep my options open. I was just wondering about the area and the elementary schools there, if they're any good/which ones I should be looking at, and if it will even be worth my time to speak with any of the representatives.
Apparently this school system covers a huge area, so I don't even know where to begin to look ("Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell, and Sandy Springs north of Atlanta, and Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, Union City, and Fulton's remaining unincorporated areas in the south", according to Wikipedia). Any information would be great! Thanks :) |
| If you looking for an adventure with a good chance of getting shot, stabbed, kidnapped or easy access to various types of drugs, or the local gangs. Then the schools in south part of Fulton Co. are the way to go.They get real gamey when you get into middle and high schools in that area. If you want to schmooze with the upper class, and deal with snotty spoiled rich kids. Pick the north. |

Pick the north. what he said. you should be looking in North GA, Forsyth County, Cherokee County, anything along those lines. Atlanta Public Schools just went through the largest cheating/corruption scandal in State history, might want to read up on that. Check http://www.greatschools.org for some insight into the given areas. |

I hope you're joking, because otherwise at least part of that analysis is stupidly uninformed. |

It was mostly sarcasm, and I put more effort into the beginning of the post, where I spoke of south fulton county, than the end wher i spoke of the northern part. As far as being uninformed and stupid, would anyone like to argue statistics of criminal activities in the southern parts of Fulton county, and the inner city of Atlanta, vs the northern parts including Johns creek and the rest of the areas he mentioned? |

Having spent 10 years working in school construction as an Architect I can say that South Fulton Schools, are not the best in terms test scores and safety. I have seen bullet holes in exterior doors. Another observation is skin color pays a pretty important role in your chances of advancing in the Fulton School system. Ditto for DeKalb and Atlanta schools.
North Fulton has a more unique problem with the spoiled kids of privilege and all that goes with it. Frankly I wouldn't let my kids set foot in any Fulton County School. |

ETA..North Fulton equals Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek, Roswell and Sandy Springs. |
