I am really thinking of joining RBGC in the near future just to have a place close to home where I can stretch my precision rifles out past 100yds.
My main concern is that I don't know 2 members to sign for, and vouch for my safe shooting practices. I have never actually been up there to shoot, or meet any members but what normally happens in a case like mine? Also, I would mainly plan to go up in the evenings to either test loads on the 100yd line or stretch a good load out on the steel range that says it goes out to 500yds. Would there be any issue getting a spot on the line at these times on these ranges? |

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I cant make it this weekend, but I plan on going to one of their Saturday shoots to check the place out.

What type of rifle do you have? I'll be looking for other members that are long range enthusiasts to shoot and spot with. |

I'm not a member, but I plan to be down the road. With the current ammo problem I'm just waiting until I can get ammo at a decent price so I can shoot it as much as i want before i pay a fee.. (i have a 308 on the way so I need a good outdoor place for that)
From what may have heard you can probably shoot with some members like a test and if they approve you then that would work. I'm sure someone will chime in that has more accurate info though. |

I've been doing most of my lr practice at gun site hills over in Athens but that is a hefty drive, so shooting at rbgc would really expand my lr practice opportunity. I may try to.come out to the Saturday shoot to meet some people. I've shot a good bit in matches over at creekside so surely there is some membership overlap that I would recognize. |
| Long time member here. I'll sign anyone's app as long as you are safe, responsible, and don't ever call me a fudd. I'm going over at 4PM to shoot my Block II and SPR and get 300m zeroes on my BUIS. Tan Tacoma with matching cap and canoe racks, "Dick" hat. Probably stay till dark so I can zero my DBAL IR laser. |

over a year ago i decided to join a club. sent email to pickens county sportsmans club and riverbend.
got the riverbend application back and i needed current members to sign. i didnt know any. pickens was opening up a few memberships so i joined there. then i someone said i could come to a shoot, and if i didnt do anything stupid a couple of members would sign on the spot. so i did and joined. gunsite hills goes to what ? around 700 800? i've been there once. its too far for me to go a lot. only riverbend has 500m (545 yards) and 600 yards. my only complaint about riverbend is they dont have 1000 yds. i'd really like to be able to shoot 1000 on occasion. there are no places i know of within decent driving distance of atlanta that go to 1000. you can come to one of the 200, 300 600 yard hunting shoots with just about anything. i've seen everything except 22lr on that range. |

1000 would be ideal. My 338LM is wasted at RBGC at 600. We are encouraging them to consider 1000 somewhere... And, yes, the RO will usually sign for you when you complete a match and show that you are sane and safe. Ask them about that prior to the event. Virtually every event on the calendar is open to the public for a slightly higher fee (Hunting rifle is $10 for members, 15 for public). If you want to shoot "superguns" - 338, .50 type stuff, you will be scheduled for a certification test by "Digger". No cost. Guests cannot shoot "superguns" even under supervision of a member or RO. Loosely defined as 300 grains at 3000 fps. 223/556 is common at the Hunter Shoot. http://HRshoot.com |
