A relative brought me a magazine today thinking he was doing me a favor and it turned out to be a fake. I wasn't here when he arrived, so when I saw the package, I knew right away it wasn't real. The mag was in a zip-locked bag with "ProMag Industries" and ProMagindustries.com printed on it. The website looks legit, but the magazine is a poor copy of a Magpul mag. The worst part is, he paid $24.99 for a non-windowed black 30rd mag.

You got a promag, which is another polymer mag manufacturer.

Not a counterfeit

Sorry, but the first thing I thought was "Why the Hell would anyone want to make a counterfeit ProMag?"

Mine was, "Hmmm, I wonder if a counterfeit ProMag is better than a real ProMag?"

Well, now I know better. Are they worth keeping?

I wrote ProMag off years ago. I have never owned a functional ProMag magazine. And I will never own another.

Now I understand in times of desperation, you tend to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Once that's gone and you tear the bottom competely out of the barrel and dig into the reeking worm-infested slime beneath, well there you go . . .

Terry, now and forever ProMagless . . .

I've got a couple. I keep them  around in case I lose all of my other Mags I have never had any problems with it but from hearing most people talk about them I don't usually use them.

My thought as well. That said supposedly they have improved. They have a lifetime warranty so you can keep sending it back until you vet one that works.

BTDT.

Not worth the hassle, the replacements were just as bad. Finally just gave up.
Although I will admit that this was a few years ago.

IF they have improved, then good for them, but I will never know. Some brands I will just never trust (or buy) again.

i agree 100% i got a "awesome deal" on some Promag Sig P220 mags, it's a west german pistol and has be flawless since round #1, add promag and the damn thing choked with FTF issues on every mag, paid shipping back to them, got replacements and 2 out of the 5 worked. i gave them to a friend and explained the 2 marked mags have worked so far and the others will help you learn how to clear a jammed pistol. never again, also the USA mags are garbage, at least for black rifles. maybe Profag has gotten better, but i'll stick to mags that work. OP hope everthing works out for you

Actually, I've never understood why Magpul chose to use "P Mag" when there was already a cheap mag company called Pro Mag.

OP, ProMag =/= Pmag.
