Anyone local to Cumming or North Atlanta able to install some night sights on a S&W Shield?  Ive been calling around and im having a hard time finding a shop (or person) that can put a set on for me.  I ordered some Truglos and they should be in this coming week.

I use a vice or metal flat and a set of vices.

History has shown that im pretty good at breaking things with a hammer and punch.  I figured a dedicated sight pusher makes life easy, but in the right hands maybe a punch is just as good.

I suppose there's no chance that a Glock sight pusher would work:???

Nope.  Tried that with no luck.  Even the S&W M&P sight pusher doesn't fit the smaller shield slide.

I'll install them for free if you happen to find yourself around Dublin GA otherwise a bench vise and nylon jeweler's hammer should do the trick on anything other than a Springfield XD.

S&W M&Ps can be a pain. I had our local M&P expert up here in NW Atlanta help me with my PRO and my F/S. Not sure why S&W designed the M&P so that the rear sight contains part of the firing mechanism too.

I put Warren rear and a s&w front night sight on mine
I like the combo pretty well
I have installed 4+5 sets on the Shield and none.of.them were easy
Both the front and the rear sights  were way tighter then they need.to be
The last set I put on took over a hour

Mike, are the Warrens specific to the Shield or they the M&P Warren sights?

Thanks

The standard m&p warrens are narrow enough to fit on the Shield perfectly

Well, after doing a little research i have decided to try out http://www.xd-hs2000.com/xd-hs2000/Welcome.html for my sight installation.  They are also doing a special right now for $30 slide refinishing.  Of course everyone is out at the Shot show this week so the turnaround is gonna be a bit slow but i will put up photos when it comes back if anyone is interested.

Please, decent price on the sights. I found TFO's for $80, but by the time I buy the sights and have them installed, Ill probably be ahead.

I bought one of THESE to replace the sights on my M&P9c, and it worked fine. Is the slide on the Sheld so different that this tool wouldn't work?
