Last night I went to a range last night with a coworker to work on some fundamentals they are having issues with. This certain range was having "date" night and it was packed, but no biggie. Glad they have the business. The crowd is a mix of soccer moms and their douchebag boyfriends or "tactical car salesmen."
There were three gentleman next to me with a mix of 1911's (all with lasers "because is you got a laser you dont need sights') and a couple of M4s with brakes. Im all about you coming to the range and having fun but fucking be safe !!!! On three occasions they were warned by the staff for finger on the trigger weapon pointed at the ceiling or the floor. Then their rapid fire at 15 yds with the M4 really impressed me on a full size silhouette, with a shitty shot group. As they traded between weapons they would "lase" each other, which could have been natural selection It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people really are with firearms safety. I can promise you I will never return to this particular range on Friday night. In that ranges defense their RSO did address all of the problem he witnessed. After he walked away these pretty boy commandos commented he could do anything because they knew the owners. I highly doubt this, but welcome to the "entitled class" of N Fulton County. Ok...pretty poor rant..not enough cuss words etc....just needed to vent. Dont be one of "those guys."

| I think I know what range you are talking about. If it is the same place, I was there Friday afternoon and it was packed. I didn't see any unsafe behavior but at one point, there must have been people three deep on every one of their lanes in one section. That inherently makes me nervous. I think it's difficult to keep everyone honest when there are so many people. It's a shame that there are some gun owners that take such a casual stance towards gun safety. That's why I try to avoid the weekends and only go during off peak times during the weekdays. |

I will say that this range is a great range and very professionally run. it just appeared that due to the volume of business they had at this specific moment it made it very difficult for them to safely monitor all lanes. With that being said, safety is everyones individual responsibility and I am disgusted by others ignorance, ,blatant disregard or just complacent attitude towards safe firearms operation and handling. its never the dumb ass handling the gun, usually, that gets hurt its some one totally innocent....

But yeah, it's rare when someone shows to a public indoor range with an AR and is squared away. 3/10 times have I felt safe or comfortable with their practices. Safety first, people always. |

I was at the same place last night... my rant is over the Dad with (2) kids next to me. I was not impressed with the weapons handling going on in adjacent lane. At one point, I'm about to line up on a clean target and I see that dad is on his hands/knees about a foot past the red line trying to pick up some 9mm rnds that rolled out in the lane. I put my weapon down and gave a loud 'Whoa dude' as I backed away from my lane which had the desired result of getting the RSO over to politely explain to the guy he wasn't suppossed to cross the red line.
The daughter took her first turn on the rental 9mm AR. After I watched her initially line up the sights to hit the ceiilng down range, she got it figured out and actually aimed at the target before firing. Big believer in getting more people on the range and exposed to shooting, but man, learn the fundamentals of how to handle a friggin weapon before you put yourself out in the middle of a crowded range. 100 rnds of 45 and 15 slugs ithrough the shotty and decided it was time to roll home. |

| This is ALL TOO common at public ranges. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have packed up and gone home because the idiots next to me rented an AR and had no common sense. Yes, I say common sense because 95% of firearms safety is common sense. For this very reason I no longer visit public ranges, and will only shoot at private facilities. Not granted morons are every where, but chances are less in a private club. My thoughts are if you going to range and renting a gun because you can't afford one, you probably shouldn't be shooting a gun in the first place. |

I was at a range the other day with a good friend of mine. We have been shooting together for many years. A male with his GF started shooting next to us. I could tell that she was highly inexperienced.
Suddenly my friend said, " Let's go". I did not know why but I've known him long enough not to question. If he had said," hit the floor" I would and guickly. As soon as we got clear he explained what his reason was. Seems the GF was sweeping everyone with a gun that for whatever reason she could not get to fire. With her finger on the trigger the entire time. GD |

Was at Charlie Elliott yesterday teaching a friend to shoot and a guy there said that someone got shot in the leg w/ a .270 there about a week or 2 ago! Anybody heard about that??
I agree about the end lane. That way I only have to look in one direction to key an eye on the other guys! |

I now try to go to ranges at odd hours. To be honest I don't prefer to be around large groups of people in any scenario, the shooting range adds further incentive not to be. This...I work third shift and try to go after work early/mid-day, usually works, but I stayed a tad too long. |

When I used to go to the Richmond Hill WMA range more often, it was usually cause I was home on vacation from school, and could go during the week. A dozen times I've been out there with only one or two other parties, two or three times just me and a friend or two, which was really ideal.
Though sometimes I'd get out there and run into some of the quirky wackos that frequent the place that wanna talk your ear off about some BS theory or another.

Ignoring unsafe behavior dosen't help anyone.........if I see something at a range that could cause someone to get shot....I call "Cease Fire" in as loud a voice as I can muster, and I can be pretty damn loud |

Why do you shoot on an indoor range to begin with? Join one of the outdoor ranges you will like it a lot better Time, for me. I have Hi Caliber and Big woods about 1.5 miles from my house. GA Firing line is about 10 minutes from my office. Creekside is an hour away, at least. River Bend is more than an hour away. Any trip to an outdoor range is an all day affair. Indoor, I can put some rounds down the barrel and be in and out. |

I have access to several outdoor ranges in Pickens (PCSO, PC Sportsmans) along with Riverbend etc. I just never have time to make it that way. The dept pays for our membership to this range, and i needed to go work with a coworker on a few issues. Again, this 4/10 rant has nothing to do with the range, but with the idiots at this range. I will continue to go to this range and recommend it others, just will tell them not to go on Fridays after 4 PM. |

On the very, very rare occasion I go to an indoor range, it is just because it's 5 minutes from the house, and I need to test something that is not going to get tested well in the basement. I have taken the 16 year old one time, and we left early, due to idiots. I will not take any kids to an indoor range, ever again. We like going up to River Bend, and finding a plinking range to ourselves, and just shooting and learning. That and one of the counter guys is a complete and utter jerk (at the indoor range not my club, RiverBend)
Club type places lend themselves to having a much, much lower number of people who are just plain unsafe, and on the rare occasion you see one, it is okay to politely address the transgression. I am OK if someone addresses any I might do. Indoor ranges to me are often a display of why some folks should not have firearms. |
