I'm attending a rifle match in Cookeville, TN on Memorial Day weekend that I've partnered up with a friend from Florida. Our paths will cross in Macon to carpool the rest of the way. Where can either he or I leave one of our vehicles from Friday through Sunday or Monday and not worry a whole lot about it being broken into? I'm a member of the PD locally near Savannah and have dealt with some Monroe Co sheriff's deputies in the past and I'm gonna email one of them as well....see if I can leave my car at the Sheriff's Office maybe?
Thanks for the help. |

I would coordinate to leave the car in Forsyth - north of Macon - at the GA Public Safety Training Center. Right off the interstate. Unless things have changed, you have to be enrolled in a class to park there. Thanks for the suggestion, though. And to the other suggestions as well. Gonna shoot an email to the deputies I know in Monroe Co on Tues when I get back in the office...hopefully that works out. |

If you get off the I-75 at Hwy 16, exit 205 (I think) and take a right, then take the first street on the right, there is a fire station right there. Butts County Fire Station #6. Maybe 1 mile off the interstate. I'm sure they won't have a problem with you parking there and it's a pretty secluded spot. The station is manned 24 hours. It's about 30 minutes north of Macon. The on-duty Captain can be reached at: (770) 227-8382 |

Wish I'd seen this earlier....you could have left it in the fenced yard of my shop just off I475......hope you found a secure location. We won't be coming through till Memorial Day weekend (May 25 through the 27th or 28th depending what time we get done shooting on Sunday). |
