Hey, we're trying to make plans for a relocation. We've been to Savannah but only seen the 'touristy' area down town. I have family in Atlanta but this will be our final 'relocation' in this lifetime and proximity to the ocean waters near Savannah was a real scale tipper.
Any pro's or con's to Savannah? Not all that interested in Atlanta, even with family there. Besides, they're gradually relocating to North Florida just below the Georgia border. We may do the same but the employment opportunities in Savannah trump the Florida beach area. Thanks in advance. |

1. What kind of employment are you looking for?
2. Do you have school age children? If so, the surrounding counties (Effingham, Bryan) have decent public schools. If you plan on living in Savannah or Chatham County, the public schools are terrible and you will want to send them to a private school or home school. 3. Cost of living will be cheaper than most of the Florida beach communities I'm familiar with. |

Also trying to convince wife's two sister and their husbands to relocate with us. Again, no kids, adults with advanced medical related degrees. edit to add: WE are conservative to the bone. THEY are a teensy bit liberal 'mouthed' but their wallets speak with a true conservative tone... nothing quite like years of independent living to 'color' your economic perceptions! Need a place to shoot for me. Golf will be a major influence and the artists community in Savannah will take care of the rest. |
