so after talking about it forever I finally broke down ordered and installed some suppressor height sights for my sig.  now that I have them installed I tried it out with the suppressor attached and checked to see how it was.  the sights are almost exactly the same height as the top of the can.  you can't really see the can since they are the same height.

HOWEVER I am having a hell of a time focusing on the front sight.  since they are the same height there is no light on either side of the front sight, making it very difficult to focus on it.

has anyone else has these type of sights?  is this problem unique to me?

I tend to point shoot when I have my can on. Night sights and white dots tend to get blackened anyways.

Try it at a range and I think you will be surprised how well you do just sighting down the slide/can

The trijicon RMRs clear the cans just fine

Yeah just point shoot.  You'll get used to it.  The other weekend I was able to repeatedly hit an ammo can out at 100 with my G19 doing this.

Shoot with both eyes open as you should anyway.  Focus on the front sight like you should anyway.  If you cannot see the front sight because it blends in with the suppressor, get a proper front sight that you can see like a Trijicon.  Your brain will superimpose the image of the sight onto the target image.  Trust me, try it.  It works.

Tall sights for suppressors are a waste of money, IMHO.  The money you spent on those sights would have been better spent on one of the other projects you've mentioned recently.  Sorry you had to learn the lesson the financially hard way.    If you would have asked, I would have let you try some of my suppressor setups.  I know other folks would have done that for you too.

I do shoot with both eyes open, I do focus on the front sight, and my mind does superimpose the dot on the target, and it is a trijicon front sight.

the problem was getting the front sight line up properly since I can see any space on either side of the FSP since there is no light geting in there.  I am sure I will get used to it as I got used to the shorter sights before. I am just suprised that the front sight is so difficult to pick up now, even more than it was with the shorter sights.

oh yea, when I turned the lights out and the night sights were glowing it was real easy to line them up.

Weird.  I use Trijicons on most of my suppressor hosts and have no issues picking up the white around the Tritium.  I can't think of anything that would make this better for you.

I was doing this at 2300 last night, maybe mt eyes were just really tired after almost 12 hrs of staring at a computer screen.

I will try again tonight.

I cant wait for Joe's next steel challenge to try them out. that is the whole reason I bought them any way. I checked out Rich's HK that was setup with them and thought I would like them.

isn't it funny how Joe's matches have made me spend more money on guns than any other reason......

Well, the matches provide a practical reason for the decisions you are making.  So, I'm not surprised by that in the least.
