Thats pretty stupid that it isn't a felony.......if someone was holding a gun to my head and made me not call 911, i would hope they would get the ban hammer ! |

If somebody's holding a gun to your head, it's Aggravated Assault plus Interfering with a 911 call. |

Actually that would be a felony. "If" he was holding a gun to your head.

yea you would think thats a more serrious crime than it is Its a tack on charge. Obviously they are doing something nefarious in the first place to then want to hinder you from calling 911. Right- thats the point. We all know what happens to "tack-on" charges, especially misdemeanors. Elevate that shit to a felony, then you're facing multiple felonies with less options to plead down to so you get your just desserts. Preventing me to call for help when im in distress is worth more than 1 year in jail to me, no matter why im calling for help. The point is, im calling for help which means im in deep doo-doo. |

I totally disagree. If someone prevents you from calling 911, usually they are delaying a response to something that requires the Police, Fire, or EMS. Regardless what the reason is, I am glad there is a charge. I am fine with law enforcement tacking on additional charges for stupidity. I guarantee if I lived through the incident, they would get the beating of their life if I ever saw them again.

Its a stupid law that shouldn't exist. No different than hate crimes. You are either being threatened, assaulted, imprisoned etc. if they don't allow you to call 911. I don't see the need for tack on charges particularly when they can't occur on their own. |
