Did anyone besides me see what looked like a flourescent green F22 with a trailing F16 going into Dobbins this afternoon around 11:30?  I guess they've got another prototype/test platform?

That is based there and flies there regularly. The F-16 is the spotter/data recorder to my knowledge. I work in the area and my office window has a perfect view of the approach. While its normally C-130's, the Raptor flies fairly often as well.

Lockheed Martin has a plant there where the F22, C130, C5, and part of the P3 are made.

That is what it looks like before it gets painted. Test flight before final painting.

Every time they fly them,
I am right under there flight path in Sandy Springs.
In the whole time I have lived here never seen them fly by themselfs they always have there escorts behind them.

Yup, test flying today.

It's good to see them back in the air after their 4 month stand down. That's a sound that NEVER gets old.

I know there were some stir crazy test pilots, just itchin to get back in the seat.

Sucks that we're seeing some of the last few test flights.

I was lucky enough to see the last (3) F22's going down the end of the assembly line last week.  That must be one of them.

The last 3 are still sitting there. It takes a bit before they're ready to fly after assembly.

We should have another couple months of seeing them test fly before they are all done and dusted.

Yeah I knew they were built there, just never seen one with that weird paint job. I did the telephone system upgrade there right after 9/11 and saw a lot of stuff in the Lockheed buildings for the F117 plus being on the floor while they built C130's. I used to sit at the end of the runway at lunch and watch everything take off and land, pretty cool having all sorts of aircraft fly right over my truck.

They fly over my store on S. Cobb on a regular basis.

I'm gonna miss them when they stop.

I repair F22 avionics and I've never seen an actual aircraft.  We were invited to visit the assembly line but our leadership wouldn't  pursue it.

Good thing that they have radar stealth technology...because they are certainly not sonically stealth.

I work near the Cobb Cloverleaf. See them a lot. Man, that chase plane looks tiny compared to the Raptor!

I saw a finished f22 with a f16 in tow while at the lexus dealer today hell I could sit in a lawn chair and watch the planes all day !

I'm thinking they should just keep the weird green paint job, nobody has anything that can touch it anyway.

Hell, I work at the factory and all I ever see is chunks of them on the assembly line.

Me and my boy watched a pair of AH-1F or Z's fly straight over my house south of Covington yesterday.  They had slightly upturned exhausts and two-blade rotors.  Sounded awesome.  They were headed NE, looked like paralleling GA81.

They still building Raptors? i would have thought they would have all 186 or how ever many got authorized built already.

IF its a Z it will have four bladed bearingless main and 4 bladed tail and a Giant Ball in the nose turret.

Also the exhaust will look "weird" from the rear. She got a big ass.

Whiskey's have a small turret with a flat panel at a downward angle.

Gotcha.  Is the upturned exhaust a specific feature of any Cobra suffix, or just random?

The company propaganda dispenser (large screen monitors all over the factory) showed that another one was delivered to the AF last week or thereabouts.  AFAIK, that leaves two more.

I'm living on the razor's edge as far as factory seniority.  Shutting down production on the F22 line is going to get me laid off.  Probably right after Christmas

See how the exhaust looks like it angles up?  That's the distinctive feature I saw as they passed over.  It could just be because of the angle.  I couldn't tell if the wing stubs were long or short, but they looked empty.  They looked like two-blade rotors, but I could've been wrong.  I've been in, around, and under enough A Stars to know what a 3-blade rotor looks and sounds like, but not the others.

I saw that F22 over the Cobb County court house the other day..... he was real low... thought it was pretty cool
