Anyone have a good source for a pickup load of split firewood?
Something between Marietta and Blue Ridge would be good. I've been splitting my own but my joints really talk to me when I do that real physical stuff anymore. Thanks |

Never used but have seen it there when I bought other stuff. May be pricey in comparison to elsewhere.

Home Depot will sell you a pallet of wood––I do not know about delivery, though. Half-pallet was like, $80 last year. I of course, scoffed at the thought when there is so much free firewood to be had, especially since I own a chainsaw, etc.
Back in April I found a big, downed tree at an abandoned house near the east west connector. Called the real estate agent who had a sign in the yard and he only asked that I leave him a little. Great, no problem. Well my wife loaned my saw to her cousin, who competely dulled the blade and used up all my chain oil without replacing it. No problem, bought a new chain and oil and started cutting and got two or three full trailer loads. Then I got more ambitious––a friend of a friend wanted to take down some big hardwoods in his back yard. Dropped a few big ones and landed them exactly where I wanted them. Except for one that landed on his deck. Whoops. Helped him fix the deck, no big deal but now my free wood was starting to cost me money... Got a crap ton of wood in my side yard now so it is time to rent a splitter. Picked up splitter, and two hours in it starts to rain––no big deal, popped up an Easy up tent and went back to work. Then it starts to thunder. I got the vast majority of my wood split and stacked in my back yard but I had to work fast (24hr rental). Fast forward to today when I have just gotten my second cortisone injection for tennis elbow (I do not even own a racket) that started bothering me about a week or two after the log spitting marathon. Turns out throwing 20 lb logs into a pile for a full day can cause tennis elbow better than tennis can. It would have cost me about $600-700 or possibly more to get this much wood from HD, but between gas, chains, deck repairs, and doctor co-pays, it was probably a wash. |

Home Depot wants 150 bucks for one of those pallets! Too rich for my blood.
Rick's want 130 for a pickup load, your pick up. I think that's the range I'm stuck with around here in Marietta. There's a guy on Aska Road just outside Blue Ridge that I have to check. |
