So I had Dking make me a trust so I can get started on building a sbr. My question is about the naming of the trust. I haven't notarized the trust yet or anything but I was wondering about making the name something shorter. Currently it is my "first middle and last name revocable living trust". I feel like this will end up being really long. Could I change my trust name to something like "drewq trust" and it would be alright? Or does it have to contain certain things like the words revocable living trust? Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Ask DKing?  I'd leave it the same as what he prepared, otherwise.

I had Mr. King make my trust. Mine is my last name revocable living trust, I didn't ask him he just did it; Probably because I have a long Norwegian name (17 letters). From my understanding you must have the revocable living trust part in full, as it defines the type of trust.

Yeah if I was to do it over again I would have used a shorter name.

It takes me about 30 minutes to hand stamp everything I have in 3b, 4d, and 4h.

Next can is getting nothing in 4h box for sure.

That's what I thought. I was thinking of changing it to just my "last name revocable living trust". Would all I need to change is the titles on all the documents and that's it?

I have heard that you are not required to put anything in 4h. Is this correct or have I heard wrong?

Drew, trust name is open to whatever you want to call it. IF you change it make sure to go through the entire document that Doug sent you and change the name throughout the document.

Ok thanks, but does it have to contain Revocable Living Trust after it or just trust or nfa trust?

Revocable living trust not necessary in the name.

So I could just have my trust titled "drewq trust"? Is it allowed to exclude revocable living in the title because it is indicated that the trust is revocable in the content description of the trust?

In the very beginning of your trust it should say something to the effect of "This revocable living trust shall be known as the XXXXXXX. trust. "

This is where you name the trust. It can essentially have any name that you want, just needs to end in the word "Trust"

But like I said, you need to change it in EVERY place where the trust is named. A Type-O will really ruin your day when your trust gets kicked back.

Mine doesn't have a line like that. It just has a title in the top center of the page. It is something like this

                 XXXXXXX Revocable Living Trust
                     DECLARATION OF TRUST

then the document starts with the legal terms of the trust. Is it possible for me to add a line in the trust that declares the title of the trust?

The only place you can deal with the short name is when you name it.

I modified mine to allow a specific abbreviation, BATFE initially didn't make any notes about this, but on my 3rd and 4th approvals they added notation in the envelope stating I had to mark the can with all of the text in 3b.  I called and asked about the abbreviation exception specified in the trust...nope, not allowed.

Again, 30 minutes with the stamps isn't *really* going to slow me down much...so I do not care and rock on.
