| Anybody know anything about these Daewoos. Good , bad , whatever... |

I shot 'em in South korea when I trained with the ROK Marines. They were select-fire models with side-folding stocks. Didn't really do a ton of shooting, or any kind of clinical tests, just plinkin' for the most part. I remember them as being good shooting rifles, and they ran very clean.
I believe they all have a 1:12" twist rate. Here's a link for parts: http://www.cncwarrior.com/comersus/store/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=56 |

The DR-200 was 1/12 and was imported with a thumbhole stock, but you could get a side folder conversion. Now, there is a model (K1 I believe) that was imported with the side folder, which IIRC had a 1/7 twist barrel. These are a little harder to find, and are typically a lot more pricey. I can remember when DR-200s where a hard sell, and you could find them all day long for $500-600. Now, it seems you can't find one for under $800 or so!
I am a big fan of the DR-200, and have owned a couple of them. They shoot very well, and are extremely reliable. Parts can be somewhat tricky, and I ultimately parted with mine simply because I couldn't shoot heavier ammo. |
| If you are patient you can find one for 500 or less with the original thumbhole stock...there are a number of aftermarket stocks for them now, skeleton, skeleton folder, six position,etc....as for parts there are at least three different places to get everything from springs and firing pins to barreled uppers with 1:7 twist....and they are great shooters, piston and very clean...i've had one since 1994 and nothing on it has ever broken. |

K1A1 rilfes are hard to find. Saw one at the Columbus show for $1200 in camo. Mine I will never sell. but, but, but..... I thought we were friends.... I don't blame you. I had a Kimber imported DR300 years ago. great rifle. But as stated above, i feel it would hold a certain sentimental value with my brother to have a k1a1. |
