Okay, I know this is a sensitive topic but I'm wondering who here can decipher which is "legitimate" Georgia Militia or Militia of Georgia Both knock the other and say that they are the only true and legitimate militia. So which is it? |

The "Georgia Militia" was an organized group that began at the Revolution in 1783 and went until secession in 1861. Is the current Georgia Militia the same organized group that was together as stated above? Who knows but I believe you have two separate groups vying for the position of the official militia of Georgia. IMHO all able bodied men, who possess a serviceable long arm and are willing to stand for the founders principles at all cost are in fact the militia. |

They have a bit of water known as the Tennessee River that used to run through "our" state. I second that! I've looked into the GAsdf and decided that I would feel "out of place" in that environment. Same with me.. I am not going to put myself in harms way voluntarily without means to protect myself. |
| Well, with all that being said, how does one go about joining a militia? Does anyone think this action might be "not in the best interest" of myh family for legal reasons? I have what you might call "marketable" skills but I fear websites due to predetory LW org's. Anyone here? Shoot me a line if so and thanks! |

You're already in the militia. Most of the "militia" groups you could join are a good way to find yourself in legal trouble, either from the idiots who get involved in them with no sense or from the government infiltrators. There was a case in the mid '90's where a bunch of "militia" members were arrested for possession of explosives, turns out the member whose property they were on didn't necessarily know they were there, and the ones who put them there were government informers/infiltrators. Get/stay in shape, practice your marksmanship, if the day comes when the militia is needed, you won't need to be part of some self-appointed group. |

If you are male and between the ages of 17 and 44 you already are a member of the militia. |
