If one were to go to Opera, would there be security goons patting one down to see if the patron happened to have, say, a large metallic belt buckle or other objects?

I would say no, but I've never been.

No.  Never seen anyone patted down.

I helped served a warrant on the head of security there about two months ago.  He's a dick. He attempted to come over the barricade at me but didn't quite make it before the Atlanta officer stopped him.  He acted like a total fool and tried to have me arrested for trespassing.  He didn't like it when I reminded him that i was standing on the sidewalk and that he couldn't have me arrested.  He really didn't like it when the atlanta officer told him the same thing.  He wasn't a big guy either. I was quite bigger than most of all their security, I'm a big guy too though.

I was serving the warrant with my cousin who works for Clayton county police.

I used to work at a restaurant across the street from Opera and someone got shot inside the club one night.  Honestly, I would be surprised if they didn't do pat downs.

Would that be the ex mil one who carries a 9mm Beretta in a shoulder holster?  Bout 5'10" if I recall.

On another note I hope you enjoy one of my designs and builds.  Yes, I did the design and the build on Opera.  Did that one in the middle of summer during the drought a few years ago. Thought I was gonna die from the heat running all the control wire in the ceiling and doing the rigging for the truss that holds the lighting & sound.  120+deg all day.  I called my crew the "Salty Dogs" as we were covered with salt at the end of every day.

It's a beautiful club, slightly overpriced and the vip area upstairs cost a pretty penny but the food by the chef is superb.  Oddly they are the only client who has never invited myself and my wife down for a comp evening.  They have made a million off the look I gave it. Oh well, it still looks great.

Maybe. He was a white guy in his early 30's I think.  I was quite a bit taller and outweighed him buy a bunch.  And if that's what he was carrying then he was also outgunned

Big guys die just as quickly as small ones.  Firearms are the ultimate equalizer.

I've been to Opera a few times and I have always been given a cursory pat down. Then again I think I've been searched at every club I've been to.

Opera is a nice club, but not my cup. (I'm in my late thirties)  I went once for a birthday party in a private section right next to the DJ. Best thing going that night was the breakfast at RThomas after.

place is overrated for sure. went once or twice and wasn't overly impressed. nice place design wise but i could go w/o the $8 beers and the pretentious pricks that prowl the place.

I can go for free, anytime, but I don't.  Shaggy try Life on Cheshirebridge on a Fri nite.  I did that one too and the place is cool.

Haha, that'd be nice. The rest of the story is true. The AR and Ump were only in the car because he was on his way home from work for the weekend and my brother was in the truck as our navigator. I've never been near the opera club before that night, and my brother works for Q100 radio station, so he knew all about the club.

That guys does not even carry a spare mag.. You had him beat from the word go.  Were you serving the warrant on him?

Hell, a few of the bartenders/ barbacks I know there are better armed.  My average service call carry is A 1911 and 4 10 rd mags.

i carry 15+1 9mm+p black hills hollow point ammo. I figure even if i get SERIOUSLY unlucky ill have three bad guys on me, and 5 bullets per guy, ill have one left over....if im in a situation where i need more than one hi-capacity magazine (as a civilian) id be running really fast the opposite direction!

I'm going down to Tybee. I would live to work for them or Savannah. Sadly though I don't think relocating there is going to happen
