I will be coming up to GA for a couple of days next month and since we have reciprocity with GA I was looking for a little quick information on some of the more odd provisions of GA rules and regs. What places are off limits? Do I have to declare that I am carrying as soon as I am pulled over, and what about restaurants that serve alcohol, and what about drinking alcohol (single beer or so) while carrying. Anything else that a visitor might need to know.
I saw the tacked thread at the top, but I was looking for the quick and dirty information that comes from living in the state from people that deal with more often than myself. |

U can carry inside a resturant that serves, but u can not drink while armed It would be smart to declare u are armed if stoped...some might argue this...I think it is a good idea... U can not carry at sporting events...church...govt buildings |

this is a widely debated topic here. Bottom line is you are not required to declare and it depends on the officer as to what kind of treatment you will receive if you do. Best I can tell you as a police officer is to use your best judgement. I personally don't care one way or the other unless I ask directly if a person is armed. Lying about carrying almost guarantees you will be detained.

I certainly would not volunteer the info.
