Got it today!

I will take it apart tonight and clean it and lube it with CLP, but I don't know when I will get a chance to go to the range.  I am leaving Wednesday for the Rolex24 at Daytona, so I guess one day next week.

I dry fired it and the trigger on this thing is sweeeetttt!   RIA Tactical:

Probably gonna put Hogues on it, but haven't decided for sure.

Where is the best place to get mags and is there a particular brand I should use?

Hey Larry, I think you will be very happy with that Rock Island.  My pistol came with Novak mags which can be bought here:

I bought VZ Alien grips for my Tactical.

I love my 1911a2 hi-cap model.  Too bad they can't be found anywhere lately.

With a pistol I usually shoot minute of man  No malfunctions to report as of yet but it is still fairly new with maybe 200 rounds through it.

I'm liking them also!  It has a textured surface but not aggressive where you would have to wear gloves to shoot it.

Why did you ruin a perfectly good picture of a 1911 with that awful blanket?

I am looking at Mec-Gar and Checkmate mags.  I will give the Novaks a look.

Mine came with an ACT mag.  Never heard of them.  Said made in Italy.

Had 2 failure to feed on the first mag through it today.  Ran 3 more mags (all the same mag, I only have one right now ) and no problems.  I also ran a mag of hollow points with no hiccups at all.

At what distance do you measure groups for a pistol?

This was my very first mag, the one with 2 ftfs.  This was at about 20 feet:

The 3 in the middle were after I got used to the sights and the grip.

Like I said, about 20 feet, so I don't know how good or bad that is.

The hole at about 7 o'clock is 3 rounds.

I was in a hurry.  I had just gotten off work and the sun was getting low, so I didn't take a lot of time.

Wasn't sure I was gonna be able to get in or out of the range.  The road was washed away at a couple of places due to all the rain we have been having down here, but I plowed through in both directions.

Cheap wash job for the truck as the two holes were about a foot deep in water.

If you have any more failures to feed, remove the extractor and check for debris.

A company rep. reads this forum a lot, and you can get a lot of info. from here.

Here's my hi-cap model after I installed the beaver tail safty and combat hammer I purchased from advanced tactical.  I'd love to change the sights out to something better, but I'll do that later.

I have been posting over there.

After the first mag, it ran flawlessly, even with HP, so I think it will be okay.

How do  you like the hicap model?  Is the feel a lot different from a standard 1911?

It doesn't feel too much different than a standard 1911, I like it.  The only problem is carrying it, it tends to want to drag my pants down so I have to cinch up my dang belt an extra notch when its fully loaded.   I do love the feeling of having 14 rnds of Federal HST's as compared to just 7.  We all need to get to the range some time so you can see for yourself.
