Hey guys,

I was reviewing the CMP req's and hit the part

Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity:
You must provide proof of participation in a marksmanship related activity or otherwise show familiarity with the safe handling of firearms and range procedures. Your marksmanship related activity does not have to be with highpower rifles; it can be with smallbore rifles, pistols, air guns or shotguns. Proof of marksmanship participation can be provided by documenting any of the following:

- Current or past military service.
- Current or past law enforcement service
- Participation in a rifle, pistol, air gun or shotgun competition (provide copy of results bulletin).
- Completion of a marksmanship clinic that included live fire training (provide a copy of the certificate of completion or a statement from the instructor).
- Distinguished, Instructor, or Coach status.
- Concealed Carry License.
- Firearms Owner Identification Cards that included live fire training.
- FFL or C&R license.
- Completion of a Hunter Safety Course that included live fire training.
- Certification from range or club official or law enforcement officer witnessing shooting activity. A form for use in completing and certifying your range firing can be downloaded from the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/forms/marksmanship.pdf

I was wondering if the GFL worked for that?

Anyone know?  Not that one of the others are hard to obtain.

If they listed it...I don't see why a GFL wouldn't work.

Your carry permit will get you by, you may want to join the Garand collectors Assc, before you go, as you will have to have that also

Yes.  GFL will work for buying a gun and Garand Collectors Assoc. will work for buying ammo.  Do not need GFL to buy ammo.  I believe there is a Georgia shooting assoc. club that is cheaper than GCA, but I do not have a link or name for them.

Probably the Georgia Sport Shooting Association

The highpower director posts here, I'm a life member.

If you are a veteran, your DD214 will suffice for the marksmanship requirements.

As for a club to join, contact Mike (the_beer_slayer).  It's much cheaper and he has hosted several shoots over in Alabama.

Garand Collectors Assoc although more expensive is well worth it.  The magazines they send are worth the $20 alone.

You can sign up for the GCA at the CMP store.  The CMP also has a notary on sight.
