I would encourage all our military and LE members to attend this class.

This honorably discharged veteran and former LEO wishes he could go and I'll hold my comments about our sheriff

I'd drive from ATL for this class but I'm not LEO/MIL.  Maybe they will open it up if they can't fill both of the classes.

Not MIL/LEO bashing here but what they'll do is open it up 2 days before class after they can't fill the slots for the class. LAV is a class act and honestly this is kinda BS. I'd understand if they were teaching tactics or storming doors or something like that but a 1911 class? Name me out some big Local LE Agencies who rock a 1911?

I think this is just Pistol I class.  Not the 1911 Operators class.

Sorry, I guess reading is really fundamental. If it is a tactics class I can understand the limitations.

Is Pistol 1 a tactics class?

I've been to the Chatham County LE range before; they've got a pretty nice facility.  I remember talking to a couple of the personnel there and they said it was a LE only range.  They also said that the range conducts "civilian gun classes" there occasionally though.

Hopefully the classes won't fill up and they'll open it up to us civvies.

Pistol I - Introductory Level: This class is for shooters who have had at least a basic pistol class either from Vickers Tactical or any other accredited instructor. State concealed carry certification classes specifically do not qualify. Topics covered include basic pistol topics and the following: malfunction drills, shooting on the move as well as strong hand and weak hand shooting. Introduction to timed fire drills and evaluations based on class skill level. Concealed carry methods are also covered. Night-fire will depend on time of year and range restrictions

It's a great facility but they don't shoot rifles out there.  IMHO it's under utilized by local LE agencies.  My agency has to go to Bulloch County SO range to shoot all our weapons.  They do a pistol course for concerned citizens.

Where is this Bulloch County range? Is it open to the public? Also do you have any more information on this concerned citizens class.

Unfortunately I am fairly certain it an LE only range.

I didn't bother to ask about the specifics when I was there, but I got the feeling that the Chatham County civilian gun course is very basic.  IIRC it costs $15.

thanks for the information. I am having the hardest time finding somewhere to shoot in the Statesboro / Bulloch County area.
