There was a man selling watermelons out of the back of his truck right near the shop for 75 cents each or 3 for $2.00.

I pulled over and picked out a nice one and it was good when we cut it open after dinner.

Wow.  Best deal I saw on watermelons was Bi-Lo was giving one away if you bought $50 worth of groceries.  We don't shop at Bi-Lo, so we didn't get one.

I love watermelon, and my baby daughter inherited her daddy's watermelon-loving genes, apparently.  "Num num num!"  That's what she calls watermelon.

Excellent score.  Wish I could find one for 75 cents (or even less than $5) that was worth buying.  When they get cheap, it's usually because they're old/overripe.

I bought some watermelons from a roadside truck last week about 40 miles east of Dublin for $1 each. The round ones were not flavorful at all, but the oblong one (Charleston Grey?) was pretty good. Evidently, the excessive rain caused the melons to be very small this year.

These were the round variety so they may not be as tasty I would like but I can afford to feed it to the pigs if it doesn't taste good.
