One of my best friends, a guy I grew up with, is a deputy in Fannin County. He came by the shop today and we listened over the radio about a seizure they were having on the southeast side of the county.
Apparently, a guy bought a house, started cleaning out the basement, and found 4 crates of what appeared to be explosives.

GBI and ATF were en route, as well as a bomb disposal unit from another county last I heard. Don't know much more at the current time. Not sure if this will makes the news or not.

Might have been left there on purpose, whether abandoned by a previous tenant or dumped there by someone else who found a vacant house.

*UPDATE*

The ordinance disposal crew set off a bunch of blasting caps and the explosives were seized. It apparently was some type of binary explosive that was not yet mixed. Don't know exactly what it was or how much.
I am sure they are looking for the previous owner.

This has been played down a bit since it wasn't a barn full of C4...it might make the local papers.
