Holy crap that is severe!  That should last you a long long time man.  I run entire companies off of much much less!

Out of my league, well, I just don't keep up with that stuff any more. I am running and Intel mobo with quad processor, couple gigs ram, and a decent video card. Couple terabytes on a few drives, no raid.

Sounds like a very nice system.

I custom built my computer from these guys.  Three year warranty, free shipping, and saved a ton of money.  You couldn't build a PC cheaper than you can get it on here for, I tried and still saved $350 off what I could build it for, plus got the warranty.   Free shipping all the time, and they build it and ship it in under a week.   You should see how tight and neat the cabling inside is done.  Unreal!

You can pick from 50 different cases, 40 different video cards, tons of other options.

Check them out...

+1 on Cyberpowerpc!!   They did my custom build to my specs. Best puter I have ever had. * Insist they burn it in for 24-48 hrs! I advised them I would be checking the logs as this was my first dealings with them. They found bad ram and a few other bugs, replaced the ram and 1 vid card. I went SLI right off the bat. It arrived flawless.

I also partitioned my main drive with the OS on it and put another with OS on the 2nd drive with several AV and malware killers just in case. Use Explorer only to update the computer as it has more holes than a N.O. whorehouse. Firefox is the ticket and mozilla for e-mail.

I have a similar system with a I-7 920.  I do have the GTX295 vid card.  How is the box as far as cooling???

My box came with three fans, and a liquid cooling system for the processor.  It runs cool as ice now.  A little noisy from the fans, but this one is setup as a gaming machine and multimedia system for crunching HiDef video.  Works awesome.

I'd get better RAM...Mushkin being my first choice ;) Great sticks, great warranty, and made in Denver, CO. Plus they're all quicker than the ones you have linked. 1066 is DDR2 speed...not worth it if you're jumping to DDR3. Also, no need to limit yourself with other fine components and then scrimp on RAM.

Power Supply

Motherboard

Selections above are better overall quality...and basically same price range.

In lieu of Ibuypower or cyberpower...take a look at AVA Direct. Prices are comparable if not better...and build quality is probably higher ;)

Gents thanks for the suggestions on build companies but I always build my own machines. Nothing like that personal touch.

Striping drives is a bad idea.  You only need one of your three drives to fail for you to lose all 3 TB of data.

If you want to RAID your drives, then you might think about a RAID 5 configuration. With three 1 TB drives you would have 2TB of space, your read performance will increase over a single drive, and you will be protected in case a drive failed.

I was thinking about getting these. EVGA X58 SLI or the EVGA X58 SLI LE with a 1200 Watt PSU. I already have a HUGE case with 9 120mm fans and one 230mm fan so I would never have to buy a new case ever again. The Scout model is pretty cool too. And with the V8 my CPU doesn't go over 60 degrees Celsius @ 100percent on all cores.
My next up grade might be water cooling
