| Hello all. I just got my first AR and was told about this site. I got a DPMS Lite 16 for around $750. I think I got a pretty good deal. Looking for modification suggestions and any review of the rifle. |

while there are some "basic" mods that most any platform can benefit from. My personal advice is to buy a 22 conversion kit, run 5000 rounds of rimfire and 500 rounds of centerfire before you "mod" anything. Then make a list of things that are driving you batty. Stock length, stock wiggle, never use the collapsible, wish it wasn't so long, wish you had an optic, wish you had better irons, wish for... whatever. Then you'll spend money wisely. |

Quoted: thanks for the advice. It is just flat top now with no rear sights so I think some kind of sights should be in order first. thanks for replying! I get a back up iron sight and spend just a little money on it. When you pay for an optic you'll still keep the BUIS on the gun and you'll be used to it. |

YHM and Midwest Industries make decent enough BIS for fair prices.
And yeah...YHM site has most of theirs out of stock...but if you look at a few of the vendors up top, some of them carry them ;) |
| Yeah...a lot of folks on here (well...not necessarily in the HTF...) will complain if it's not Troy or Daniel Defense or Larue...but YHM makes good products. They're stuff is spread amongst retailers/sponsors..but pricing from their site is basically the same. I'll be running their QDS sites they make for Spikes Tactical along with Midwest Ind Handguards. Whenever my freaking upper gets done down at Spikes....(stupid barrel finishers...) |

Welcome to the fold.
Extra mags is pretty important as well as what everyone has said about ammo. First, you will need a rear sight. Check with some of the folks in here (GA) whom are dealers and they may have a rear site. Magpul also makes some sights that look pretty good. (J&L 400) Glad you have a rifle now. Practice with the Iron Sights before you go optics and then move from there. |

also try to stay away from General Discussion...
