Why didn't the friend pan out for you?

When without a military ID I've had friends get stuff for me.

Also , can you not get these boots at a surplus store? Army/Navy place?

I don't know if LEO can buy at the exchange, but I don't think they can at Robins AFB.  I could be wrong though.  You should buy your boots online or at a surplus store.  There's nothing special about the boots sold in the exchanges, they're available on the civilian market too.  Hell, I haven't looked at a catalog lately but Brigade Quartermaster used to carry all the exact same boots that I had to choose from at the exchange.    Even if you did get a vet to take you to the exchange I bet they would have to special order size 10 EEE anyway.

Every PX I have been in requires you to show a .mil ID if not in uniform.

Do you want me to see if the Dobbins PX has some boots in 10 EEE?

Yes, but regular ol' cops ain't one of 'em. There must be some affiliation with the DOD: Active, Reserve, Retired, Civilian employee (civil service with DOD - and I'm not even sure about this one).

Must be another case of "LEOs aren't civilians".

If a .mil person buys something at the exchange, it is supposed to be a bonafide gift. However, I think people buy on behalf of others all the time. I've never seen it enforced.

Having said that, while sometimes you can find deals at the exchange, you are generally better off going to a surplus store. (Although I did scarf up some brand new Camelbaks for $13 each one time.)

It is my understanding that they cannot. I would also like to know if you are a non retired veteran can you still use the PX is there some kind of PX card you can get?
6/24/2009 5:23:42 PM EDT
[#9]
From my experience, you need a mil ID card to get in and on some posts you need a special PX endorsement for different items. When I was on TDY I could buy groceries and typical stuff but not uniform items or duty gear.
