| Who was it that made thier own electronic game call and what did you use to make it? |
|
Alot of people use this site to download sounds, get homemade caller and decoy instructions http://www.varmintal.com/ahunt.htm
I used some info from these sites as well to make mine. Thanks to favorites menu I still have all the links. http://www.predatormastersforums.com/homemadeecaller.shtml One of the sites said not to use the radio shack speaker. The one they recommended was a SPECO, b/c of a higher frequency, i think. Anyway, that's the only thing I ordered online, everthing else came from radio shack. Except the cheap mp3 player from walmart. Here's another design, but the instruction were more involved than the other 2 listed above. here It's really easy to make. You gonna call coyotes? |
| Thanks for the info! There is a lady who works with me, that has a small farm and is having chickens, cats and dogs go missing. She has seen three coyotes on several occasions and wants them 86'd. I told her that I would be happy to give it a shot. Just looking for some good ideas and didn't want to spend FoxPro money. |

You should be able to build one of these for $45-50 plus the cost of an mp3 player, if you don't already have one.
Sounds are free from the varmintal site, but are the typical rabbit in distress and coyote sounds. They'll work, but this time of year a fawn in distress call is really productive, since fawns are dropping. If there are chickens on the property, try a chicken in distress. Motion decoys are rumored to be the ticket. I made one like on varmintal.com. Let me know if you need any help w/ anything. I'm new at it, but have been quite a few times over the past year or two. Played a fawn in distress a few weeks ago and had 2 yotes come running at us from about 500 yards away, just 2 minutes into the call. They came within 75 yards, but we never had a shot b/c our setup wasn't that great. You can use my call and decoy, but I may have to babysit it while you have it |
| I'll ask the landowner if she would be cool with that. If so you are welcome to come. Her farm is not far from Athens. I don't know if you are anywhere close to there or not. I need a new brass tumbler, so it would be helpful to have your experience and call and not have the expense of making my own. |
