Guys and Gals,
Does anyone know if there were any G18's produced prior to the 86 ban, and thus in private ownership collections?  I'm researching for a case at work, but I cannot find any conclusive information on this topic using the Internet.  Thanks in advance!

From what I have gathered, it depends on who you ask.  Some say yes there were, some say no there werent and that is supposedly coming from SOT's.

I have heard rumors of pre 86 conversion kits for 17s but that the 18 was produced after 86.

If it is a pre 86 it would be a pre-may dealer sample and not a transferable. It could only be possessed by a dealer or former dealer and not an individual. I have never seen one listed as a pre-may for sale.  Glocks had just started coming in in 86. You might want to post this on Subguns in the NFA discussion section.

Why don't you axe Glock?  I'm guessing they'd know.

He owns it. I run it. I figure even if they are sitting on the license. I paid cash out of my pocket for most of them, and they are signed out to me on my demo letter. life was great when ammo was cheap and plentiful. now I can barely afford to hit the range to sight in my personal stuff... long gone are the days of shooting tens of thousands of rounds in a single weekend. Hell I saw green tip for a buck a round today.... I remember buying it for 10 cents....
