So, after years of NFA oppression at the hands of the GA DNR, I've finally decided that the 30 extra miles to Creekside is worth the trip. Having never been, the question is - Other then the obvious (pocket of cash, toys and assorted accessories) what else do I need to bring? Target stands, portable bench, hip waders, etc?? Or, is pretty much an inclusive setup, other then targets?
Thanks |

Or, is pretty much an inclusive setup, other then targets? Thanks Ok, well as a RSO for Creekside and the fact that I will be working there tomorrow from about 10 or so on.... I can tell you a little bit about it. And ask a few questions as well so you arent disappointed when you come out. NFA items .... what kind are we talking about? Full Autos, suppressors. SBR's? As far as shooting full auto it is not permitted on the pistol bays or on the rifle ranges themselves. Suppressors are not a problem either on the rifle range or on the pistol bays either. Full auto fire is only allowed in the training pits with Range Master clearance on your weapons handling and ability to be able to control said weapon in full auto. Range Master is Joe Harris himself and will be there on the range until about 10:30 or so tomorrow and would be the one to give clearance to shoot full auto. As a Range Safety Officer I cannot give clearance. What you can expect to find. On pistol bays there are normally three silhouettes that can be moved around and placed at various distances from 13 yards to about 29 yards. There are taget stands in which you can affix carboard IDPA style targets to and shoot those. There are also used carboard tagets that can be used at no charge to affix the targets you provide. There are some paper targets available for puchase as well but there arent many styles to choose from I believe we only have one at the moment. On the rifle range ... please keep in mind it is a rifle range and is not a pistol range (exceptions made for hunting pistols). There is a limit as to 1 round per 3 seconds on the rifle range. Distances are 50 yards and 100 yards. Both firing lines are on the same vector .... with backstops at the different ranges. Both firing lines are covered and benches, tables and some chairs are provided. At the perspective distances there are two lines in where you can affix a target to with clothes pins so you do not need to worry about bringing a stand from the pistol bays. As for the comment of scuba gear .... I will say this .... if you have brand new white shoes ....... Creekside is not the place to wear them. It does get a little muddy, this past weekend the 100yard line was under about 4 inches of standing water and shooters were not allowed to use it. The 50 yard line was muddy as well but not as bad as the 100 .... there was mud ... nice gooey top soil mud. The pistol bays are covered as well and the shooting positions are actually concrete so you wont get muddy there until you go to place a target in the pit or move the steel that is out there. That about sums it up ... if you have any further questions feel free to ask and Ill do my best to answer them. |

| Don't worry about the scuba gear(that's coming from someone who is at the range 80% of the time not just one time), the range is wet in some spots but we have had alot of rain lately. The entire range is open and you will be fine. I will be there until 10:30 in the am and then Outside will be the RO for the day. |
