I'm looking into putting an add on piston system on an AR. Does anyone have any first/second hand experience with either the Adams Arms or the PWS one (or any other)? I see from PWS' site, an authorized installer has to put it on, but the Adams Arms one can be installed by anyone, so that's a plus for their system. Thanks in advance for your comments.

The PWS rocks, I took months looking at them all. Lee @ the AR Bunker in Newnan does the installs. Great service down there and good prices. Wep runs clean, really clean! Takes 10 min to wash it down and stroke it. Perfect for SBR or suppressed rifles. With a 20" not so much. 16" and under is it's thing. |

I have seen way to many PWS systems shear the carrier key right off the bolt carrier. Other than that seems like a good system but as LarrgyG said why fix something thats not broke. The one reason I was looking at them is that I recently sent in paperwork to SBR a lower and for some suppressors. I've read that SBRs and suppressors can cause a bit of gas blowback, plus deposit extra gunk in the receiver/BCG. If it's just a matter of cleaning it more, that's no big deal, but if it operates better, then I'm interested. Good comments guys, thanks. |
