I'll be traveling through your fine state for Bike Week in about 5 weeks.

I do not have a permit that is good in GA.

I believe you can carry concealed in an automobile.

Any one know how to get through your state on a bike legally?

Can the gun be loaded in a locked side case?

Thanks.

Good question.

Here is the code section most relevant to your question

This code section does not forbid the carrying of a loaded handgun in any private motor vehicle by a person who is not licensed, but also who is not prohibited from possessing a firearm, in an open manner and totally exposed to view. For those who are not listed as ineligible for a license (found below in the "Firearm License Carrying" section) may also place the gun anywhere inside the vehicle. A person who has a license issued under code 16-11-129 may carry a loaded handgun in any location, openly or concealed, in the vehicle.

As I read it, unless there is a reason why you can not posses a weapon you can carry in your motor vehicle.

Do you have a VA permit or you .mil?

Bottom line is yes you can carry your weapon loaded in a locked side case.

I have a VA permit.  I'm going to send off my NH application early next week (I hope).

Maybe I will get their permit by the time I head out.

Otherwise, I'll just unload it and separate the ammo and gun (per FOPA).

Shouldn't take that long to get through GA doing 80 mph.

80 why drive like a Gran Ma

For what it is worth, you are really don't have unload your weapon as long as it is secured in side case.
