are there different length in buffer springs?  I had a collapsable stock on my 7.62 AR.  I just replaced it with an ACE fixed skeleton stock.  I used an A2 buffer tube and the spring and buffer from my collapsable stock.

will that work?  or do I need to find a spring made for the A2?

You need a spring and buffer from an A1/A2 full length buffer system.
The buffer and spring are longer for a standard buffer system.
Carbine use a shorter buffer and spring.
