Says call for more info. Anyone do this. How is it run? What are the prizes? How much does it cost? Do you have to do it each week to be eligible for a prize?

It seems you call the big number at the top of their web page and they answer all these questions.

Simple.

You try typing in the dark sometimes without looking down at the keyboard because you're not supposed to have a laptop on during court...

I try my best to avoid court at all cost. But I am sure if you asked the Judge nicely and tell him you are a member of Arfcom, he/she will be more then happy to let you do your online socializing.

I can say this.. because its all true
I went once.. It was OK. nothing special. Just line up some targets, shoot, shoot some more and then compare.. I did it a second time
and half way thru I left. I felt like i was being treated like an idiot. After I walked out and was browsing the store someone who worked starts telling me some rubbish story about a gun I didnt want. I said no thank you and moved on.. They followed like they had nothing to do.. Needless to say there are plenty of stories about that place and their unfriendly attitude and not $0.01 of my money will be going towards them.. YOUR results.. may vary

The guy who owns that store has a screw loose. I went in there to buy a Ruger .22 pistol one time and they had a used one in the case for more than a brand new one would cost. I tried to explain this to them, but they did not get it. They wouldn't budge on the used gun's price so I ended up getting in an argument with the guy. A couple of days later my friend went in there and talked to the guy and mentioned what happened. The guy told him to tell me he was sorry and that he forgot to take his meds that day; he was dead serious. The guy is a strange bird. I have never bought anything from there since then.

The rest of the people that work there seem nice enough when I'm in there (usually about twice a month).

I've also been wondering about the .22 league, my tuesday's are usually booked solid but I've got some free time coming up over the next week or two, so I might try to sneak in.
If I do, I'll give you an AAR.

I tried to go to Pannell's one night to get some shooting in while I was home for a day. Found out all the lanes were closed for the .22 pistol league =(.

The people I talk to on the phone are always friendly and answer all of my questions.

I'll participate when I get a good .22 pistol.

I shoot the league every chance i get when im in town.

its $8 to shoot and starts at 7pm, i usually get there at 5:30-6 and practice (~3-4hrs of shooting for 8 bucks and targets vs $6/ half hr and 0.50-1.00/target....) shoot a total of 6 targets, 2 at a time, shoot 5 rds at 1st target, shoot another 5 rds at 1st target, then do the same with 2nd target. do that 3 times and drop your lowest target and count your scores of the best 5. the targets are NRA B5 i believe. then theres an optional poker bet we do at the end, you put in $1 in the pot, 5 cards handed out and taken to 15 feet, 2 rds per card, 10 rds total and who ever has the most points wins the pot.

you must shoot all tue and can miss 1 tue of the month to win the prize. like if there are 4 tue in the month you must shoot 3, if you cant make it, like in my case most of the time, you can shoot twice that night to make up for the missed tue. the prize is $10 for every win, i believe. they used to hand out plaques which i would prefer. there are the same guys there every time i go with a few guys i never seen, usually 10-14 ppl shoot. there are 3 different classes, 450 and under, 475, and 500. all scores of the month are averaged out and prizes are given out.

its really about just having fun, i dont do it for the prize really, good group of guys. i usually rank in the middle or better than avg and usually avg out a bit above 475. i could win the prize by calculating what i need to make to get my avg right at 475, but i dont.

last time i shot with the can and it was cool, but i didnt get it sighted in perfectly so i scored pretty badly. eveyone was checking it out before the shoot and would come in to listen to it.

Im on winter break now so i will be up there if im not snowboarding.

i would have to agree, the owner is a bit odd, but everyone else that works there is cool. after he remembers you he will say hi, bye, and start a convo with you. but at first i would ask the other workers whats up with him and they would say thats just your regular owner of a gun shop.
