I see you can either buy the whole charging handle assembly or just the latch. Where is the functionality? The latch or the whole charging handle?
Thanks guys.

the latch is simply that...a larger latch to operate with gloves/stress/optic-mounted.

the "gas busting" is done by the shape of the charging handle as it interfaces with the upper receiver.

unless you run a suppressed weapon, you may not see any benefit in a "gas buster".

FWIW, i run a couple of the latches on some rifles.

+1.

The GasBuster is thicker in the handle, and has a small channel that vents the excess gas off to the side, away from the shooter's face. With my M4-2000, I still get the gas blast, but it's not directly in my eyes.

I wouldn't bother buying one unless you are are having some serious overpressure issues or you run suppressed alot.

Someone did a post on a home done 'gas buster'.  It uses red hi temp silicone.
