I have a friend in TX who was telling me that his Class 3 dealer helped him set up his trust on the cheap. He was also telling me that there is some bill that is going to be discussed in the next year or two about changing the tax stamp from $200 to $2000. So i was wanting to at least start my trust and maybe get an SBR. Problem is I'm in Valdosta. Where is the closest dealer that can help me with this?

A dealer doesn’t typically help you with the Trust. You simply do it yourself or consult a lawyer. Most people buy Quicken Willmaker Plus and setup a Revocable Living Trust using the easy tutorial.

Once you have the Living Trust setup, then you can obtain a SBR through a Form1 or Form4.

I sure as hell hope not!  If so and our class III dealers knew about it, I'm sure they'd be telemarketing all their customers.  Let's just hope that guys dealer was trying to create some urgency to sell a few items...

anyone else want to speculate on this???   (paging all dealers)

Ill shoot him a message and ask him for a little detail about what he said. Didn't mean to start a stampede.

ok... i just talked to the local ATF guy and he said he had never even heard of such (price increase)... so I bet it was just the dealer trying to sell some stuff off in a hurry.

I agree someone was just wanting to make a sale. Not also don't forget kids that we can also do sbr's as an indv. All you have to do is get your local sheriff to sing off on it, get some fingerprints and send it off. That is the way I am doing mine. It seems like one less thing to keep up. O and you also have to get a "passport photo" to add to the paperwork. But the tax stamp increase is hog wash! And once you go SBR you never go back!

I'm a class II dealer and I help my custoemrs with their Trusts as a value-add service.

No, there is not any talk of a price increase.  That would literally take an act of congress to change the law.  Very, very unlikely.  Also, pay close attention to the Heller case.

Not sure what dealers are in Valdosta.  You can Form 1 an SBR yourself.  Biggest issue is in getting the engraving done.  Or you can buy an already SBRed lower from a CIII dealer.

ok Mark, what do you think Heller will do to the Class III business?

I would like to know what the buzz is about the Heller case and C3 as well.  I would gladly pay $2,000 to have MP5, M16, etc at pre 86 prices.
