You have to be a member of the Brady Center to get in. Thats what I heard.

Just give me a call or stop by and I will talk to you about membership. And for whoever stated the Brady Center comment, you don't know me to well and this range is a business alliance with the NRA and we promote the gun business way more than you can imagine.

way to represent creekside, idiot. thats what is wrong with the gun industry, you people have no sense of customer satisfaction and only care about lining your pockets.

You might want to check things out before comments are made. Considering I am hosting the Hometown Forum Shoot for no profit to the range. And yes I did make the comment before I changed it. I take it very seriously about promoting gun use and training. It would be kinda hard to support the Brady Center when the range is a associated with the NRA.

Not a  very smart statement jaak.  You will find pretty much everyone here supports Creekside.  And if you are too stupid to know what the brady center is then you should be berated even further.

You might want to tread lightly here as your description of Joe is not accurate at all.  He is very customer driven and constantly strives to improve what his range has to offer.  Given some of the "customers" he and other range owners have to deal with, I'm surprised anybody even tries.

Handled VERY well Joe.  Personally I would have left the kiss my ass statement.  That being said this didnt turn into a bunch of namecalling either.

You don't have to be a member to shoot at Creekside, but you can pay $20.00 a day to shoot. That what I did for a couple of times before I become a member. I went there with Mark and Allen check thing out and talk to Joe about the range and the shooting in general. After the third trip I just signed up to be a member.
This is by far the best and well organize range with NFA friendly. A lot of pistol and rifle training classes and some fun match almost every month. Most people I've meet at Creekside are friendly and obey the safety rules. You don't see some jackass pointing weapon at you while you're down range, you don't see kid tape the paper target on the weed straw, you don't see people walk on the side of the range to set up the target while the range is hot and you don' t see the washer machine/hard drive as a target.

I've only been once right after Christmas to hook up with Allen on a purchase, was impressed.   With a little time the facility will mature nicely (grass?).  I'm next door in Floyd county, might join as the group there on the day I went was a fun group to hang out and shoot with.  In other words, no f'in idiots, very safe & knowledgable.

I shoot a lot alone these days on a private tract just to avoid the goobers at the range here where i am a member.  (Does shooting alone mean i have a problem?)

BTW i took the original comment as a joke, so absurd it got a chuckle out of me.  what followed was bizarre.

And i wouldn't have a problem with Joe if he was in fact "lining his pockets", nothing wrong with that with a good product and a fair price.
God Bless America

Cool it guys.  I think some jokes were made that were taken as serious comments.

Creekside is THE best range in the whole darn state in my humble opinion.  I gladly drive the 3 hour round trip nearly every weekend because it is run by people with common sense.  That common sense is reflected in their rules.  They are agreeable to just about any shooting activities as long as they are safe.

If you live anywhere within an hour drive of Creekside and aren't a member you are crazy.  (I mean that in a nice way.  ).

I agree with Mark.  Joe runs one of, if not the only range that is friendly to all sorts of shooting.  Pickens County now restricts Full Auto to certain days of the week.

As an NFA enthusiast, many ranges treat you like the deranged step child when in fact the NFA guys I know, are the most law abiding gun owners and not like  the knuckleheads that trashed the Madison range and bump fire into Old TV sets.... and then leave it there.

From my personal perspective, I met Joe for the first time about two weeks ago while my son and I were visiting.  He was hosting a service rifle match, but took time out to talk to us and welcome us to the range. He has the only range that would host the MP5 class, so I will continue to drive business his way....Come to the HTF shoot and have a great time, shoot some cool stuff!

On a different note.... bring an extra pair of shoes if it is raining. it can be muddy... But Joe is working on it.  IMHO, it is a no brainer to join...

i cant support a range who charges more for a box of 50 rd 9mm crap reloads then i can buy 100 rounds of 7.62x39. speaking of, 1 dollar per round for x39 is what they charge. i am sorry, but i call it like i see it. its price gouging at its finest. i know all the typical arguments, you can save them.

blah blah blah, its his range, dont go there if you dont like it, etc etc. i dont go there, i never have and never will. i dont support folks who charge fellow enthusiasts, or people wanting to learn out the ying yang. i understand he needs to make a profit, but 1000% markup on x39? seriously? i dont think so.

There is no such thing as price gouging in a free market economy.  At least we have established the fact that the problem lies with you and not the way Joe runs his range.  Perhaps a nice little communist enclave like Cuba would be more to your liking.

Then how do you know how much ammo is?    .....purchasing range ammo isn't required, probably just offered as a convenience to forgetful folks.

ever been in a golf proshop?  how about a ski lodge?  i would guess no, because those items are there as a courtesy and priced accordingly. they are not in the business of selling clubs of skis, as i imagine Joe is not in the business of selling ammo.   if you want internet wholesale prices on ammo at an outdoor range, i think you are in the wrong place.  i thinks its a bit silly to boycott the range based solely on that, why dont you give it another shot, so to speak?

WoW...I needed ammo for the Last Sniper Challenge...I couldn't find any 175gr .308...I posted up and who CALLED me, but Joe....(now I'm NOT A MEMBER of Creekside, but go and shoot when I can) He tells me he can get me some ammo, not to worry..just show up to shoot....Sunday Mourning he put 30rds of match grade ammo in my hand a HELL of alot cheaper then I could of bought it retail...
I don't know were u shoot buddy, but U must not of been in any indoor ranges lately...any of these places or business in general do have the right to MAKE money!
U are the same type of person who bitch's how dare I charge a trip charge to drive to your home and fix your appliances....and u prob believe the oil company are gouging the hells out of us also

This is turning out to be quite comical. Considering whoever this guy is and says he has never been to the range or never will, I fully hope so since he is giving out false info. I don't advertise to sell ammo and what we have there is for a convenience in case anybody runs out or forgets to bring extra. Last I checked I don't even have any 7.62x39 except for the automatic rental (so therfore it is kinda impossible to sell it for a dollar a round). The last time I sold this type of ammo we sold it for 6.50 a box of twenty, and we don't even sell reloaded 9mm. Let's see here what we have in the shack right now is 100 round boxes of winchester 9mm for $23.00. Cheaper than most gun shops and retailers.

Don't know who you are and really don't care. If you have this kind of attitude then it is probably wise that you don't shoot at creekside. Get your facts straight and then maybe you won't look like an #%*.  Really doesn't bother me considering the people that come to the range knows that we don't price gouge and support real enthusiats more than you can imagine.
Thanks to the people on this post that know the real truth, I will always help and support you when I can.

No surprise that I stand with 1b375 on this.  Joe sells certain items as a convenience to people in need and I've never seen anything out of line price wise in his shop.  He also goes out of his way to help people on the range donating his time free of charge.

He provides a safe and fun place to shoot at very fair prices.

I was going to say more but I'm tired and my comments will probably get a bit out of line.  Therefore, I'm leaving it here for tonight.  The last thing I'll say is I don't appreciate erroneous information being posted here (the HTF is usually better than that) and information that could be harmful to a company could get someone in a bit of trouble.  Best think THREE times before price quoting if you don't have a clue what the hell you are talking about.

Good night, all.

Hey law I meet you at the last sniper shoot.  (I was the newbie shooting the 24" AR)  I was wondering if you could please give me some advise on the rifle?

About how much is it worth?  Is the 5r worth the extra $$$?

I don't think that's a good buy. You can buy a brand new AICS 2.0 for $1000 from Tac Pro and the 5R doesn't cost a grand new-and he wants $2000 for the used setup? No thanks.

You'd be better off buying a Remington SPS for $600, throw away the Hogue stock and drop it in a new AICS. The 5R's are supposed to be slightly easier to clean, but the accuracy isn't any better than a standard Rem barrel and the velocity boost with the Remington 5R isn't quite the same as you'd get with a custom 5R.
