Guy's,

I just got a good deal on a REM 700 VRT so now I need to mount some glass. I got a Millett 4x16 50 from my dad until I can get the glass I want. The base mounts I have on it now work ok (standard weaver 2 piece) for now but I'm looking for some base mounts that are thicker (taller) so I have some more clearance for the bolt. Can you guys point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

M.

I have the EGW on mine.. I would buy it again in a second. Try google EGW or look on ebay.

The only rings and bases I use now are from Glen Seekins. The price isn't too bad, the only problem is getting them. His company has grown so rapidly, he's having a hard time keeping up.

There are a ton of options out there, set your budget and it'll be easier to advise you. It's easy to say you can't go wrong with a Badger base and rings-but then you're looking at close to $300 in mounts.

I second the idea of using Glenn's base/rings. All I use now as well.

Thanks for the info guy's. I'm going to go with EGW's and see how they work out.

Thanks again.

Badger is second choice.

I was going to go with Seekins but Glenn said he was a few weeks out. I was impatient so I went with a Nightforce Base and Warne rings. David's Gun Room in Norcross had several bases and rings in stock when I was there last week.

Can't imagine that those rings will work better than plain ol' Leupolds!

If you're talking about MkIV rings-yup, you're right, but the MkIV's aren't any more superior to any other high quality set of rings. If anything else though-I'll go with the added security of the more stout rings.
