I have decided to give building the 1919 a shot. I was wondering who you got to machine your internals and how much they charge? I was also wondering if there is someone you can recommend to do the refinishing on the gun. I don't have access to a blasting outfit or the equipment necessary to park the gun, so I am going to have to farm this and the finish on the AKs out once I get them built. Thanks! Tried to IM you but you are full. |

you need to buy all the tools to machine it yourself. that way you can really say you built it. not that you just assembled it. besides you can never have enough tools.....and if you think you do let me know and I will buy them from you ![]() JK, don't really have anything useful to add, I just want to get my post count up!

Ill add some knowledge bc he helped me park my kit. I had a guy in 1919a4.com machine mine. $200 for trigger and machining and parking shipped. Great deal. I'm pretty sure AC did his own. He also did parking and sandblasting. I sandblasted my own but he parked them. He is an awesome guy! |

I machined the internals on my 2 1919's and I machined them on 2 others. I can do them for you if you bring them. Its not a difficult process. I parked my gun and a few others, I used the witches brew for parking, phosphoric acid and zinc pennies with the copper ground off. I can park it for you too, you'll just have to bring some Simple green solution with you, a big can of WD-40, and some phosphoric acid solution from homedepot. For refinishing my AK's I just sandblast them and spray them with Brownel's teflon/moly epoxy paint. Before you install your RH sideplate put it in the oven for about1-2 hrs at 550, during the manufacturing process they grind the plates, and they get hot and absorb oil so you need to get that out sandblasting the RH plate real hard is important also. When I parked my 1919, the RH plates didn't take the park too well, on JFreinkles and my buddies two guns, they came out perfect. The parking is an all day process so thats all we will get done that day. I cleaned out my inbox. Oh, one more thing, where are you going to shoot it at? I haven't shot either of mine since they closed the range at Madison. |
| I've thought about taking mine out to Charlie Elliot, but....... I can picture myself now, with a hundred rnd belt on the gun and beads of sweat forming on my forehead as the little voices tell me that maybe the range guy won't notice if I try to empty the belt in less than 15 sec. I just can't bring myself to take it to CE. I'll give you a piece of advice, don't buy a crankfire setup for it, take an empty cartridge and slip it over the trigger to give you more leverage and you'll find you can bumpfire it REAL fast. |
