I shot a 4 pointer this morning while looking for any sign that my son hit a doe that he had shot at earlier in the morning (he missed).

Clean spine shot at 30 yds while he was chasing a doe. Dead right there. First kill with my Savage Model 12

My Dad got one too, as well as our hunting pal Norm.

Got this 7 pt. yesterday.
I shot a second one that was right behind him, less than 2 minutes later.  Searched for 6 hrs yesterday and 4 more today and never found.  Arrow broke off and guess it plugged the hole after about 100 yds.  Makes me sick b/c the 2nd one was a VERY heavy beamed 8 or 10 pt.
This is actually my best bow buck though.

Way to go bro! Looks like y'all had a good hunt

I'm here stuck at work, but next week I'll hit the woods and see if I can get one.

I had a 4-pointer walk up about 15 feet from me. I decided that since I already had meat in the freezer, that I would let him walk. Maybe he will get bigger and I will whack him next year. Or not. He trotted right over the hill and ran past my uncle who promptly sent 165 grains of 30-06 love at him. Oh well, he got to live for 5 more minutes than if I would have shot him.

Nothing.  Saw a doe/fawn combo - they stayed about 30 yards over the property line  That was all.

I did pick up my deer from last week.  What a rip.  I need a new processor somewhere off of I-20 east of Atlanta.  Exit 114-148 somewhere in there.  I dropped off a 167 pound buck last Sunday.  They called on Tuesday - it was ready.  I showed up today.  It took them a while to "find" it.  It wasn't frozen.  Bags were light.  She said all the steaks were on the bottom - under the sausage.  Got home.  They gave me 24# sausage/burger and 5 whole packs of chops.  That's it No tenderloin.  About 26 pounds of meat from a 167# deer.

I took a doe during bow season, been letting everything walk so far during gun season though. Our "trophy managed" club just got sold to a housing developer so were done after this year. I'm hoping to see a nice buck or several before the end of season, I'm going 3-4 days for the next two weekends to try and make it happen.

Anybody close to Newnan that wants to get rid of some venison, let me know. I'll help out with the processing cost. I just don't have any time or a place to hunt anymore.

Now did your deer weigh 167 dressed or was that what it weighed undressed?

Not quite in the area you specified, but at Exit 92 (Covington Exit), try Rut-N-Strut, 10295 Flat Shoals Rd., Covington, (770) 385-5397.  Not far off the interstate and I've been very pleased with taking deer that I take in Putnam county to him.

Three doe's  literally ran right up to me as I was walking. Something must've spooked them elsewhere. Me and the puppy shot one as it was running at 25 yards.

Yep, that’s a little bit of blood around his mounth.

Gonna bring the wife too? Doesn't she have a new AR that she needs to shoot!?

Yep, Arsenal SLR-105A1R.

Here's the full post with post-mortem pics if you are interested in the internal damage the 7N6 ammo causes:

I don't know, it is up to her, and may depend heavily on the spider population density of the property.

We'd probably eat 10x better if she came.

She does have a new AR, but no hunting license. Also, I could not ever imagine my wife gutting a deer.......ever.

I mean that.....ever.

Not in a million years.

Hunted Mcraw ford archery only area last sun. stuck one, retrieved arrow, but no deer. I hate wounding an animal and not retrieving it.My arrow hit a small twig and the deer did a 180 just before my arrow reached him.Hit him hard but could'nt find him. I had no orange since it was an archery only area and it sounded like world war three on the private land he ran to.  I'm off this week though and i learned patience and humility last week, i'll carry them with me hunting from now on.

I live in Coweta County, too, but, alas, I have not had time to go yet this year.   Sounds like we are in the same boat.

I am actually going deer hunting for the first time tomorrow (thursday) through Saturday.....it should be interesting.  I have been accused (several times) of having pretty bad ADD so sitting in a stinking tree stand all day is going to be intersting....

I asked the guys I am going hunting with if they cared if all I shot...was pictures.

Dang man, that is most impressive!!!! CONGRATS!!!

Hunting with AKs and ARs?  The gun grabbers think that they are useless for that. Keep up the good work at proving them wrong.
