Does anybody have any experience with these guns? (FN - FS 2000) My distributor is running a sale on them and I'm DURN tempted to snag one. I have always liked a bullpup, but these guys just ain't what you'd call cheap.....

But hey, they take AR clips, so I wouldn't have to invest in a whole new set of magazines!!!! (That's my rationale and I'm sticking to it....)

Any input appreciated!

They are heavy. That's about all I know about them. Might want to check out FN forum or GD.

They are neat, but I view them more as a range toy. Jams are difficult and slow to clear from what I have heard. That and mags don't drop free.

Personally I will wait for the Masada to come out.

I've heard that prolonged use of them will cause all of your babies to be born naked.

Just got in from work....thanks ya'll for all your comments!

Dking, the catalog says it weighs 7.6 lbs so, while it's no lightweight, it's not excessively heavy. Being a bullpup the mass is very compact, so it will give the impression of weighing more than it really does..... I've already got a Steyr USR <-(post-ban AUG), a Bushy M17 and an FN P90, ALL of those feel really heavy, but in actuallity don't tip the scale all that excessively. It's just a bullpup thing.....

jmarkma, you called it dead-on, when you said range toy. I can well imagine that jams would suck, but if the mags don't drop free, I'd be pretty bummed.... And hey, I never claimed it would be my "go-to" gun....

Golly Lucky_13, it would really SUCK if it doesn't have a last round hold open, I'd HATE that!!!!

Heck Cletus, my wife already done had 2 kids and both wuz born nekkid, so's I 'spect I'm pert near a lost cause in that respect.....

As for the KB, Bradd_D, I never, ever, thought of that stuff before!!! Durn you!!!! I've always loved a bullpup, and here you go opening my eyes to stuff I'd rather ignore! But then again, "it'll never happen to me" (yeah, riiiiiight.....).

I'm a sucker for a bullpup 'cause it gives you SBR over-all length, with a 16"-20" barrel, meaning no tax stamp/regulation/registration/engraving/paperwork/BS.

I've got to let my sales guy know in the morning 'cause the deal goes away then. I'm guessing since none of you has seen one blow up before, I'm going to have to break down and snag one. I'll fill ya'll in as to the particulars once it gets here. (Hold open, weight, mag drops, etc.; but Cletus, I ain't planning to have no more babies to test your theory on that!!!!!

If anyone out there has heard that FS 2000's REALLY suck, let me know quick and help save me from myself, PLEASE.......I've got bullpup mania, with BRD complications.

Edit to correct for excessive tiredness.

I have one and like it alot.  I like the ergonomics.  And it is cool looking.  It takes AR Mags but does not like them all.  My Magpuls will not fit. You will need optics, the factory site really sux and is extremely low.

It is well balanced, and I have only had one FTF with mine, and I attribute it to the mag.

Accessories are starting to come out.  if you go to the fivesevenforums.com you can talk to alot of other folks that own the firearm.

FNGfromGA out.

PS how much are you looking at paying for one.

I have one and I bought it this summer. I tried to hold off long enough for the price to go down but, I didn't know it would be this soon. I got mine for the standard price.

I haven't had any jams with mine but, they would be slow to clear.

The magazines don't drop free but, even if they did, it wouldn't speed your reload up any. Your hands would have to make the same motion and the only difference is that you grab the magazine instead of letting it go.

I thought about waiting for it but, if you've seen the P90 optic, I don't have much faith in the F2000 DEDICATED optic.

I hear sighting down it is like looking through a straw.

If I needed to, I could yank my EOTech off. I think you might be stuck with the factory optic.

+1 on everything he said here.

I wanted to hold off for the AXR AUG but, I didn't see the sense in paying 2k for a clone and, something that might not have parts and service available in the future.

Well, I did the dirty deed and put one on order today. The deal went away this afternoon, because FN got cranky about the distributor discounting FN's wares.

It wasn't easy to buy the FS2000 sight-unseen after buying the P90 that way. I was less than impressed with the P90, especially the dedicated optics. The optic system is certainly 3rd rate stuff. Kinda reminds me of a Bushnell's low-budget knock-off to what they thought an Eotech might be like, if it were made on the cheap, for an Air-Soft gun....YUK. And best as I can recall, there is no way to swap it out without utilizing my trusty hacksaw. (I haven't looked at it in a while because it kinda puts a knot in the pit of my stomach whenever I do.) Sigh...

Thanks for the in-depth report HK_Shooter_03. That makes me feel LOTS better about blowing great gobs of money on a whim.....again!!!

I'll let ya'll know what I think of it when it gets here next week. In the meantime, any and all comments still cordially invited.

/fingers crossed
//toes crossed too
///still throwing rocks at my P90

I want to pick one up and look down the scope before I decide........I have heard that as well, but I have also heard the new ones would have a better 1.5X scope...........too bad it isnt 4X

It's too expensive...I got a SIG 556 for 1600..00 now they sell for 1200.00. There are probably more rewarding outlets for your money. XCR comes to mind. An old AUG in 99% condition is a real nice gun. Hell.....I like my AP4. My Bushy with the AK brake is a dandy and probably my favorite. Or put the money on an ATV....there always fun.

But, but, but,

A Sig 556 ain't a bullpup, XCR?, and I already gots a Steyr USR (pseudo AUG), and a Bushy, and a coupla Colts, and I'd durn sure break my neck on a ATV.....

But then again...... getting back to that Sig thing.... I know it ain't a bullpup..... but ain't it a purty thang anyway.... hmmmmm.... welllll...... ahem!
