There is another member of GeorgiaPacking that is looking to do a trade. He has a Sig 229 9mm with box, Uncle Mike's pancake holster, (1)10 rd mag, and (1)13 rd mag. He's looking for a S&W M&P-9. I have a 6 month old full size M&P-9 with (5) 17rd mags, Blade Tech Kydex belt holster, custom Southern Holsters leather IWB holster, box and all paperwork. I have about 800 flawless rounds through the M&P. He has run 200 through the Sig, but he's the 2nd owner ad doesn't know how many rounds the 1st owner ran through it.

I have always wanted a Sig, but haven't fired one. I also really like my M&P.

What do yall think?

I like my sig, and I think it is a more sound financial investment than the m&p.  I would trade after a trip to the range with the guy totest it and if nothing went wrong.

Just my opinion, but I've a few sigs (P228, 229 -357/40, 220), and I think the 229 in 9mm is the least of the sigs. The 229 with a stainless slide it top heavy on the alloy frame. The 228 had the right balance with the stamped and folded slide. The 229 was designed for shooting 40S&W so it needed the stronger slide. The 9mm 229 can't be converted to the 40 or 357Sig though, so to me, it's just not the best set up. Kind of along the lines of a Desert Eagle in 380acp. Too big of a gun for the caliber.

First, try a SIG out. It's a love/hate thing. They have some of the best single action triggers that can be had, and the trigger frequently gets even better with use. Then, if you want the compact size, look for a 228. They quit making them, but they hold their value for a reason.

I think I know who has that 1.  If I am right it was mine the sig has around 1000 rounds fired through it.  I never had any trouble with the gun when I owned it.  I hope that helps.
