Anybody here have suggestions for any non-prescription cream, ointment, herb, etc that has worked form them in relieving the burning, tingling, sensation from neuropathy?  If it has worked, how long did you take it before you noticed any relief?

This is related to neuropathy not brought on by diabetes.

I can't tell you if it'll work, but "Bag Balm" (check CVS, not Eckerd/Rite-aid) relieves itching and flaky skin of psoriasis. It's about $8 and last a while. Might do nothing, but it's worth a try. It's menthol based, for utters.

If you decide to give it a try, get the stuff in a green square tin, not the white tube.

I was about to say a shot of penicillin will clear it up the burning and tingling......but then you said it was brought on by neropathy, lol.

Hehe, yeah that one would be easy to fix, and possibly free too.  I'll take a ride to CVS and try the other suggestion.

Neuropathy is brought on by damage to the nerves and their signals. I doubt any cream would really work.

Yup, I understand that. I've been dealing with it for a number of years now but it's getting worse and I know some people have found "stuff" that eases the sympoms, at least temporarily..my aim is to use it at night so I can sleep somewhat decently.  Mine is far worse when I am lying down.

If you have not already considered one, there are several  prescription medications available for neuropathy

1. Neurontin (available as generic non-controlled medication)
2. Lyrica (brand only has controlled medication)
3. Lidoderm patch (brand only)
4. Cymbalta (brand only & insurance companies often require a prior-aproval

You may try googling alternative medications for rheumatoid arthritis.

I know it isn't nerve related but who knows.

I feel for you.

When I went through chemo 5.5 years ago is damaged the nerves in my hands and feet.
I am extremetly sensitive to cold but no pain generally speaking.

Please keep me informed because as tim goes on the doc said it coould get worse and I woould like a head start ifiat all possible.

Good luck.

Be sure and have your spinal subluxations straightened out.  That seems to be a cure-all for everything from stupidity to cancer.

I was prescribed the first 2 and tried them for a long period of time so that they could adjust doseages etc and we got up to max with no obvious sign of relief.  Haven't tried the other two, but I'll research them to see if they have any contr-indications with the BP (hereditary ) medicine I take

Thanks for all the ideas everybody, hopefully something will work out this time.

Will do.  I initially thought my problem was being caused by cold and/or damp, it kind of felt a little like rheumatism,  unfortunately it turned out not to be something like that.

ETA: Wife just got home as I was writing this with some stuff called Blue Emu that a pharmacist said has worked well for a lot of people.  Said it takes a little while for it to start to work but has had good results.   But, it is very expensive...little tub, 4.4oz, was $40 .

I had a lot of nerve damage and told I would not walk again. I started to take large amount of B12. 14 years later I walk (not to far) and shoot. It took months to show that it was working. B12 does not get stored in your body so O.D. is not a problem.

Yup, I'm on the B12 as well....hard to tell the extent of any impact it has had, if any, but I will continue to take it.
